Re: Customising Superscript and Subscript

We'll have to wait for the lads to get back to work at Nisus tomorrow to see what they have to say. My betting is that they'll say that that's the way it is in Apple's text engine, so it then comes down to how willing they are to do yet more enhancements of the text engine, but it's my bet also tha...

Re: Customising Superscript and Subscript

Geoff, I think this is down to Apple and their text engine. So here is my latest guess/kludge, but it is possible to modify the "Note Reference" character style to lower the baseline, and presumably the font size could be adjusted by setting a different standard font size on which it is ba...

Re: Underlining still needs to be fixed

Geoff, Putting forward yet another kludge: if you know you are going to have to underline a word or two in a given document, and you want the extra spacing, could you not simply raise the baseline on the whole of your paragraph, adding in a little extra line height if strictly necessary. Then you ha...

Re: Slower than Molasses In January

The .doc importer does take quite some time to load. It's an unfortunate characteristic of OpenOffice, which our importer is based off of, that we can't do much about. However, OpenOffice just released a new version, which we are looking to move to. Hopefully that can help in this regard. One thing...

Re: Double spacing in NWP

Don't mention it ... it's a pleasure to be able to help. Mark Edited in later: After a brief experimentation, and much as I hate to say it, it looks as if Pages adds the space below the line. Am I surprised? No ... Pages uses its own text engine, not the Apple text engine behind TextEdit and many th...

Re: Double spacing in NWP

But am I not right in thinking that the "Points after" is paragraph spacing, so won't give double line spacing, which is the thing the OP needs? If that is the case, single line spacing +12 after won't give the same result.

Re: Double spacing in NWP

In contrast to most word processors, NWP, when set to 2x line spacing, places the empty line space above the characters instead of below it. I'm wondering two things: 1) Is there a particular reason that it works this way? 2) Is it possible to change it? (If I want the margin measurement to be the ...

Re: Word documents. Grrr!

I have those three too, and was going to recommend either OpenOffice or NeoOffice. I prefer the UI of OpenOffice, but find that in many things NeoOffice performs better, though that's subjective, except for one point. I do a lot of sending files backwards and forwards to colleagues using Chinese Wor...

Re: Using linkback with Intaglio

I too asked the developer of Tables to include LinkBack right from the off and I'm really pleased that he's finally doing it. Yes v 1.5 is still in Beta, but I have found it very stable for all my needs. I think the problem with that from the point of view of an NWP user is that -- as far as I know ...

Re: Can text be wrapped around a table?

Thanks. Maybe it can be put into the next version? Lots of requests in there for this and floating text-boxes generally. If you have an app like OmniGraffle that supports LinkBack, I'd produce your table in that, insert it as a graphic with a caption if necessary, and then if you need to edit it, L...

Re: Word documents. Grrr!

Heatherkay, There is an issue with some versions of Office which nothing but Office will open directly. I'm continually having problems with Windows/Office 97 and 98 ... I have to run them through MacLink Plus! It includes Excel files. Which version of Word was your file produced on? Do you know? Mark

Re: Stock templates?

In the meantime, it's pretty easy to build your own templates. The only thing that's missing is an "Open from Template" menu. I use the Document Manager as a workaround for this as I the only other files that go in there are temporary saves; but I would like a menu for the purpose. And I g...

Re: Edit Line Wraps and Indent

Yes, this happens all the time in tab-placement, for instance. You're talking about 1/100 of an inch, which would just about need someone with a magnifying-glass to detect. I use generally use centimetres as my measure for a number of reasons, and can get a similar rounding problem, but .01 cm is sm...
