Re: Diacritics in Greek

G'day, paieye et al First up, I don't know much about Greek typography. Next, the keyboard shortcuts you quote do not give me the same results using the System's Greek keyboard, so you may be using something else. However, the System also offers a Greek — Polytonic keyboard which allows you to hit o...

Re: How to Find All Non-ASCII Characters

G'day, ScottinPollock et al

I suspect that, in the font you are using, those character pairs are ligatures and not distinct ASCII characters.

Cheers,
Adrian

Re: How to Find All Non-ASCII Characters

G'day, raybythelake et al A few comments that may be helpful here. For a large range of technical Find/Replace expressions, see (in the Help menu) the Nisus Writer User Guide, P. 470–477. In a situation such as this, the Find expression could be quite complicated. It may be prudent to Find and Repla...

Re: Active Selection: Text Color

G’day, salv0 et al

Have you looked here?

Preferences > Appearance > Colors > Selection > Active Selection, then set the color.

Re: Weird Text Analysis Bug: possessive+.

G’day, wF et al

It appears to be fixed in NWP 3.0.4. Text Analysis returns the same set of results for each of those paragraphs, correctly stating there are two sentences in each.

Adrian

Re: How to prevent text to be modified

G'day, Philip et al Huge thanks, Philip, for these goodies. Ah, the power of exclamation marks! Reminds me of my favorite programming language (Forth). So, with your first one-line Macro as a guide, it's easy to create (and store!) a Macro for restoring one's favorite Find & Replace parameters, ...

Re: How to prevent text to be modified

G’day, lellius et al I’m very pleased it works for you. I will now offer some comments on the Find & Replace system in Nisus Writer because they are particularly pertinent in the current context. The problem with Find & Replace settings is a recurring one. The parameters remain the same unti...

Re: How to prevent text to be modified

G’day, lellius et al I’m sorry if I’ve complicated things too much. I’ll try to simplify. Any command that completely prevents text from being modified would have to come from Nisus. This may not happen any time soon. My suggestions offer ways to work with what we have now. Try this:– (1) Create a C...

Re: How to prevent text to be modified

G'day, lellius et al Thanks for explaining your reasons for wanting to prevent modification of chunks of text. In such circumstances, I think that a hardwired "Set in Concrete" command could be too heavy-handed. I've already mentioned footnote numbering as a possible stumbling block. At so...

Re: How to prevent text to be modified

G'day, lellius et al I've given this problem more thought, as I've found it intriguing. I suspect that some sort of "Spare Me" command might be difficult to implement. Footnote numbering comes to mind, but there could well be other issues whereby certain aspects of the text to be spared al...

Re: How to prevent text to be modified

G'day, lellius et al I am unaware of any such command. One possible workaround would be to take a screenshot of the text block (with Show Invisibles turned off) and insert the resultant image in the place of the original text. However, this would cause problems with Statistics (eg, word count), Tabl...

Re: File Kind “Nisus Writer Glossary"

G'day, Martin et al Thanks for the reply, Martin. I read the article you referred me to (thanks) and ran Onyx, which was one of the suggested maneuvers, but no change to the Kind. Faced with a choice between Martin's "Fret not" advice and wielding the Terminal scalpel to perform more major...

File Kind “Nisus Writer Glossary"

G'day, all I have just now noticed that, when I save a new untitled NWP file with Format "Rich Text Format (RTF)", the file is saved with Kind set to "Nisus Writer Glossary" rather than to "rich text format (RTF)” which I think it always has been in the past. I see a few of ...

Re: Formatting page

G’day, msebban et al Have you tried the following? File > Page Setup… > Paper Size > Manage Custom Sizes… Click on the “+” sign to add a new Custom Size, give it a name, then enter the desired dimensions and click “OK”. You can then get your PDF document via the Print dialog or via File > Export As ...

Re: deleting paragraph style B and replacing it with paragraph style A

G’day, Philip et al

Much better, Philip!

I don’t think I’ve ever needed to do this on a mass scale before, so I wasn’t aware of that command. Thanks for pointing it out.

Cheers,
Adrian
