We have confirmed that 2.5a2 does not launch on anything older than 10.3.9. Beginning with 2.5a2 we are building using Apple's new developer tools which is apparently the cause of this problem. We will fix it for the next alpha release.

Currently Nisus Writer Express does not support breaking footnotes across multiple pages. We will add this at some point in the future, but we are still working on getting it just right.

I would try deleting your printers and setting them up again perhaps? Look for the Printer Setup Utility inside the Utilities folder in your Applications folder.

We have looked at automator a little bit, but right now we don't have any specific plans for it. However, we plan on revisiting our entire macro/scripting system sometime after 2.5 is released, so PERHAPS there will be something in this direction in the future.
