Big Sur and Nisus
As I understand it, Big Sur brings big changes to the OSX operating system, making it much more like the iPad OS interface (of which I am not a fan). With the new M1 cpus Apple created, how will this affect the operation of Nisus (and other traditional programs)? More specifically, will it cripple N...

Re: Opening files with the extension:'docx'
Nisus does a very good job of importing docx files in _most_ cases, but there are some in which it fails/has failed entirely, even after going through LO and export-to-rtf attempts. One is when the original Word document has sections with a mask applied. A couple of years ago I needed to translate s...

Re: Adding furigana
Martin wrote: "Nisus Writer Pro version 3 does support vertical text layout/orientation inside table cells and floating text boxes." While never wanting to contradict Martin, and the above is certainly true, the Nisus Pro manual also states: "The vertical text boxes are not a solution...

Re: Adding furigana
Unfortunately, Nisus does not have a furigana/ruby function. (It also does not have a vertical writing feature.) A workaround is to put the reading in parentheses following the word.

Re: preferences gone
Ok, this is really strange, my shortcuts are back. I just rebooted. Is this a system thing?
This is probably the solution. I have had shortcuts disappear before with a reboot (of system or just nisus) restoring them. I have also been able to restore them by going to the menu key prefe...

I really don't know if this would be a work-around, but if they are static, could you not take a screen shot (png) of the equations in MathType (or on your Mojave machine) and use the screen shots?

3.04 and opening docx files -bug?
Ever since upgrading to 3.04 I have been unable to open .docx files in Japanese in NWP. (Have not tried English bc I don't have any) The following error is reported. I have tried opening files from a year or more ago that the previous version had to problem opening. If I open the file in Word and sa...

Re: text color
Alternatively, you could assign a key in the menu preferences to 'Red' and another to 'Black', and simply press the key to change the color of the text you are typing.
I use F6 for red and F7 for black, and the change is instantaneous -- that is, not an interruption to my work flow.

Sort bug in glossary files
Since upgrading to NWP 3.04, sorting a block of text in a glossary file (using the Edit:Transform Paragraphs:Ascending command, both from the menu and thru a macro) results in a superfluous New Line character being inserted after every Glossary Entry Break character. Is this a bug or an unintended '...

Re: Copy disabled
Every now and then Nisus also stops responding to any keyboard input for me. I have never been able to correlate this to any specific action I have taken, but the problem has been resolved by quitting and restarting Nisus. I have usually been able to quit using the mouse, and when not, cmd-escape to...

I pasted the text in Word, which makes it very simple to format with a couple of clicks. Alas.

Re: Japanese top>bottom, right>left
Thank you. Unfortunately it is not a solution. As the instructions say: "The vertical text boxes are not a solution for full-page vertical text layout, but rather an extra feature to embellish your default horizontal text layout." I needed a full solution for a document written in Japanese...

Japanese top>bottom, right>left
The reason I started using Nisus many years ago was for its Japanese support. Until now, I have never had a need for J other than left>right, top>bottom as in English. Nisus supports right>left for Hebrew and other languages in horizontal lines from top to bottom. Is there a way to get Japanese in t...

Re: NWP 3.0 and Erroneous Spellcheck
Have you installed the 3.01 update?
Spelling problems were one of the fixes, and 3.01 fixed the problem for me.
