Re: Novel Manuscript Template
Hello, This is a (slightly modified) template I use for novels. There’s a novel along with it, based on the template, so you can see what it looks like. Maybe you’ll have issues with missing fonts. You’ll have to change the fonts via the style sheet if need be. Note: I had to abridge the novel. phpB...

Re: Page numbers with 1 column landscape view?
Hello, solipint. I fear there is no easy way to do this. Even though you consider a two-column page to be two pages, NWP still thinks they are one. Whether you put the page number into the header/footer or a floating text box, it will only display and print a single number for each page. A workaroun...

Re: Space before paragraph and ruler origin
Sure there are many ways. You can put the text into a one-cell table or in a text box, for example, and move the box around. Anyway, all of those methods are not straightforward. Well, let’s harp on the topic. Something will come out. I’m glad you revived it.

Re: mystery gray text background
Hi, Nick. It appears it’s a field of some kind, I don’t know which. The shade doesn’t print, at least not when the document is exported to pdf. You can disable it. Go to Preferences > Appearance and select Marked Text from the list at the bottom, then click on Field Code and check Hide this Highligh...

Thank you, Steven. You’re restoring hope. By the way, the ruler was finally fixed. That makes a nice fifty percent. of the requests.
Greetings, Henry.

Re: Running word count
Hello, Hans.
I support this. Not just a live word counter, but a partial, resettable one too. One you can reset whenever you want so you know how much you write in a session.
Cheers, Henry.

Re: Lucida Grande and Italics
Hello, jb. Lucida Grande that came with my OS (10.6.8) doesn’t have an italic typeface. Just normal and bold. Use Font Book in your Applications folder to check if your font has an italic typeface. Select the font and expand the typeface list by clicking on the triangle next to the name. Or, which i...

Re: Intermediate Face Font
Score it out. NWP behaves with Baskerville (not New Baskerville, my fault) as with Myriad Pro.

Re: Intermediate Face Font
I confirm. Myriad Pro semibold triggers bold upon close/reopen. Not so with New Baskerville, as far as I have experimented. I have an old Bitstream version of New Baskerville, with postscript name NewBaskervilleITCbyBT. Now, New Baskerville is TrueType while Myriad Pro is OpenType PostScript. This m...

Re: Intermediate Face Font
Hi, Emmanuel. Are you using styles? If so, and if Myriad Pro is used in a style, you can assign a shortcut to it. Create a style and assign Myriad Pro semibold to it. When in style sheet view, select the style and set a shortcut in the Shortcut box, in the lower left corner. If, on the other hand, y...

Re: BEWARE OS X.6.8 Security Update 2012-001 -- it kills Ros
Thanks for warning, Geoff.
By the way, somewhere between 10.6.x and 10.6.8 Apple killed show glyph from the Special Characters utility (Edit>Special Characters…). You/I can no longer select a font and see what glyphs it contains. PopChar’s bribery?

I think I remember phpBB provided a polling tool in the past. I looked for it but couldn’t find it.
Anyway, I back your proposition. Count me as pro.

Right-click on the toolbar and select Customize Toolbar…. Drag the two Back and Forward blue arrows. Note: they should be in the default set.
