Re: hyphenation

G’day, Yohanan et al You also need to have hyphenation enabled in NWP Preferences:– Nisus Writer Pro > Preferences > Languages > Hyphenation From the drop-down menu there, choose something other than “Disable Automatic Hyphenation”. Choosing the “Disable Automatic Hyphenation” option there does not ...

Re: Nisus Default Template

G’day, all Þorvarður is quite right. However, the fact that Nick seems to be able to display hitherto invisible filename extensions using the checkbox in Info windows indicates to me that he already has the checkbox in Finder Preferences unticked. Hence my suggestion regarding the Save As dialog box...

Re: Nisus Default Template

G’day, deltanick et al You may be using the minimalist Save As dialog box which does not show that checkbox. To the right of the filename field is a small button with an up/down arrow which toggles between the two versions of the Save As dialog box. This is a standard feature of the Mac operating sy...

Re: Nisus Default Template

G’day, deltanick et al

At the bottom left of the Save As… dialog box, make sure the “Hide extension” checkbox is unticked.

Adrian

Re: Nisus Default Template

G’day, Deltanick et al Rather than using System Preferences to obtain tabs in Nisus Writer Pro, you can use the options in the NWP menu:– View > Document Tabs > Use Tabs > etc These document tabs (as distinct from ruler tabs) provide the ability to view multiple documents (one at a time) in the same...

Re: Nisus Default Template

G'day, Martin et al Thanks for looking into this, Martin. My Nisus New File document window extends to the full height of the MacBook Pro screen, so stacking of new documents might well be expected to run into trouble. But that isn't the whole story. If I raise the lower edge of the New File window ...

Re: Nisus Default Template

G’day, Martin et al Except that this does not seem to be quite the case in NWP at present. Offset occurs for the second window only. Third and subsequent windows are stacked on top of the second window, not iteratively offset. But I agree that iterative offset is a desirable default feature. For tho...

Re: How Do I Change Change NWP Window Position?

G’day, deltanick et al Depending on your version of the operating system, you can elect to open subsequent documents as tabs within the initial window:– System Preferences > Dock > Prefer tabs when opening documents > Always Note that this will then apply to all applications that support tabs, not j...

Re: Line numbers and tables.

G'day, Philip et al I’m glad you sorted that out, Philip. One small point that might have relevance in some situations is that line numbers can (almost) disappear off the left edge of the page if the Gutter width (available in the Line Numbers Palette) is too large. As far as Tables are concerned, i...

Re: Line numbers and tables.

G'day, Philip et al

New
Macro > Document > Lorem Ipsum
View > Line Numbers > Restart Every Page

To disable line numbering:–

View > Line Numbers > Not Shown This Section

Note that I am using Sierra, not High Sierra, in case that makes a difference.

Well, er, ahem, that is, I’m fairly sure we’re all using the same application. :-)

But there’s obviously something going on here.

Re: Line numbers and tables.

G’day, Philip et al

“Actually, Nisus ‘line’ numbers are paragraph numbers.”

I don’t know about that, Philip. If I use (for example) the Lorem Ipsum macro to insert 3 paragraphs in a blank document, the line numbering gives actual line numbers, well beyond 3.

Adrian

Re: Line numbers and tables.

G’day, Vanceone et al It works as expected for me. Each row of a table has a corresponding line number in the left margin, regardless of whether there is other text on the page or not. The tables I used were ones created within Nisus Writer Pro itself, not objects pasted from elsewhere. I wonder whe...

Re: Splitting a page horizontally

G’day, Graham et al Nisus Writer used to have this feature, but it dropped by the wayside during (I think) the port to OS X. I do not know why it has not been reinstated. It has been a sore point for many of us ever since. It is certainly Number One on my wish list for Nisus Writer Pro. Once a docum...

Re: Update for High Sierra?

G’day, all From reports I’ve seen so far, upgrading to High Sierra is likely to be quite problematic, given its new file system. It’s somewhat disingenuous of Apple to include the word “Sierra” in the name. As I understand it, some backup strategies still need to be carefully thought through by the ...
