Re: Word underline

G'day, Philip et al Thanks for that, Philip. It’s very naughty of regex to treat “|” in this way. It’s somewhat akin to an “exclusive or”, I guess. A few observations: I’m not so sure that currency symbols are the problem here, as the expressions I gave find and treat them as expected. We don’t want...

Re: Word underline

G’day, Yohanan et al I think you are right, Yohanan. There appears to be no such command. But it is easy enough to create a simple macro that does the job for you. However, in my opinion anyway, one needs to be a bit more subtle than one might at first think. I would like all hyphenated words to hav...

Re: manual

G’day, Yohanan et al

See those three dots to the right of the title bar in the Character Palette? If you click on them, you are presented with a little drop-down menu that (among other things) allows you to choose between Condensed Mode and Expanded Mode.

Adrian

Re: manual

Re: manual G’day, Philip et al Thanks for explicating the font situation, Philip. I had in fact looked at both the Condensed and Expanded Modes but for some reason missed the fact that, although the fontname field appears as a drop-down menu in the former, one can still overtype the name there. (Tha...

Re: manual

G’day, Yohanan et al I’m sorry you’re finding some aspects of Nisus Writer frustrating. You can always revert to a previous version if you wish:– <https://nisus.com/pro/versions.php> There you will also find the Release Notes for each version, listing all the changes since the previous version. But,...

Re: Images won't resize nicely

G'day, sethgodin et al Insert Image works for me in NWP 3 as it should. I'm not sure why your experience is different. I've done a bit of experimentation but could not replicate your situation. It might be useful to test whether the dimensions of your image can still be altered in the Shape Metrics ...

Re: Complete Table of Content/Outline text visualization

G’day, mlemaire et al One possibility is to insert the Table of Contents into your actual document and then use the newly incorporated Split View feature to keep the TOC in view while you work elsewhere in the document. This way, you can use whatever formatting you like to view the TOC. Cheers, Adrian

Re: NWP Margin Marks

G’day, Nick et al Thanks for the kind words, Nick. But I think they could apply equally well to others here too. I think all of us here try to help people solve their problems as quickly as they can. The reason that I, on occasions where I might have something to offer, can sometimes end up being fi...

Re: NWP Margin Marks

G’day, Nick et al You flatter me! In all conscience, I really can’t take all the credit. Every now and then I get a bit of help from the likes of Philip, xiamenese, Vanceone, Þorvarður — just to mention a few of the resources I keep in my bottom drawer. Oh, and occasionally Martin lends a hand…. Che...

Re: NWP Margin Marks

G’day, deltanick et al

Nisus Writer Pro > Preferences > Nisus New File > View

Ensure the “Show Paragraph Formatting Icons” checkbox is unticked.

Adrian

Re: NWP Margin Marks

G’day, DeltaNick et al Such things are dealt with using commands in the View menu, most of which act as toggles (invoke once to perform the action, invoke again to reverse it). For example, the “Show Paragraph Formatting Icons” command will show/hide the little rulers. You could assemble a set of su...

Re: PDF Opens One Page Only

G’day, Philip, Vanceone et al Opening a PDF document in NWP loses much formatting. AppleScript doesn’t even understand page numbers when it comes to Preview. But an approach which seems to work goes as follows:– (1) Create a Workflow in Automator with these two Actions: “Get Selected Finder Items”, ...

Re: Text colors change in Nisus 2 and 3

G'day, Philip et al

My experience in NWP 3 is different.

Select some text, then (for example) Format > Text Color > Red. RGB values in the Colors Palette are as expected; viz, 255, 0, 0.

Cheers,
Adrian

Re: Text colors change in Nisus 2 and 3

G’day, Xuanying et al I think Martin is right in suggesting it’s something to do with the display. Try this:– (1) Select some text. (2) With the Colors Palette set to RGB Sliders, click on the cogwheel and choose Device RGB from the drop-down menu. (3) Manually set the values to 255, 0, 0. (Be sure ...

Re: Selecting paragraph and formatting

G’day, vwnisus et al I agree with what Philip says about practical utility, but the code fragment adduced by vwnisus, together with the accompanying query, raise the question of whether it’s possible to pass the value of an AppleScript variable to Nisus Writer, so that Nisus Writer itself can then w...
