So who won...? : )

OK, my first guess was Sept. 9th... my partner's B'day -- she'll be soooo happy! ;)

So, did anyone else call it first? :)

Anyway, I've just downloaded it, so it's time to go have a look!

Most be getting closer...

On loading up Nisus.com today I thought for a second that NWE2 must've been released... oh hallelujah... but, no. : ( In purely speculatation I'll say that NWE2 must be close... the irrefutible proof? Charles, in a post to the Nisus Blogs -- of which I was inaware until the site redesign... that, it...

Re: Keyboard shortcut to open AND close palettes

The keyboard shortcut that opens a palette in Nisus Writer Express 2.x also closes it. Great news! One little suggestion (drawn from OmniGraffle , similar to the request for keyboard shortcuts in tool tips, is to actually show the keyboard command in the section header (a picture makes a better exp...

By default, Command-Option-T is assigned to open the Apple Font panel. In 2.0 each palette has its own menu command. You will be able to assign a keyboard shortcut to that command which will toggle showing and hiding of a palette. Charles, does that include the individual Nisus palettes, or just th...

Hi, Marc. Thanks for the information. Does that also go for the palette in the tooldrawer? Though I wasn't clear about it, I meant the tooldrawer character palette, not the OS X font palette. Ah yes, on second reading, I see that! I guess I just jumped to conclusions when you mentioned fonts, and I...

Re: Keyboard shortcuts to change text color

This, of course, starts to bring up the question of whether there will be character/font and paragraph styles, so that you could have structural (read: paragraph formatting) styles, and font styling styles, like just changing the font colour..? If you look at the NWE 2 preview page about the styles...

I like your ideas of both saving the tooldrawer state on a per document basis and setting a state for new documents. I will add this to our list of things to do! If you can work those two things in, dshan and I should both be happy. The jumping window is a very minor peeve on my part, but I thought...

Craig, I think you'll find that these issues (which I agree with BTW), are entirely within Apple's domain. As you're probably noticed, Nisus are using the OS-provided Font palette, that is generally available in 'most'(1) other applications (TextEdit for one.) I would agree that these issues are gen...

Re: Keyboard shortcuts to change text color

Can anyone tell me whether there is a way in NWE 1.1.2 [or 2] to link a keyboard shortcut to a specific text color, either with a macro, an applescript or by any other means? I use color-coded text a lot, and would like changing color to be as quick and simple as changing style. I know this discuss...

We are definitely thinking about how to improve handing of web content. I'm curious what you intend to do with HTML files that you would save in Nisus Writer Express? If you are trying to create HTML for the web, why use a word processor instead of a web-page editor? Because the issue is not about ...

I am pleased that Nisus Writer Express includes support for formats other than Microsoft Word (e.g., WordPerfect and AbiWord). It suggests that Nisus has a genuine interest in making NWE work well with other software, not just piggybacking on the dominance of the leading brand. Yes, I definitely ha...

By the way, I didn't participate in the poll because none of the three answers quite fit my situation. Fair enough, I added the poll on a whim, when I noticed the function when posting the question! :) I do use OOo, but compatibility isn't a big need for me. Yes, it doesn't seem to be too much of a...

OK, so not a big deal to most of you? Fair enough! I had just thought that this could add to NWE's viability as an alternate WP for OS X, being able to deal with the 'main' doc types coming from other platforms. :D
