Re: Splitting a page horizontally

I don’t normally approve of referring to different software on a forum for an app, but I’m going to break my rule here. What is being described here is done perfectly by Scrivener. It also works beautifully in partnership with NWP, indeed I believe NWP is the word processor of choice for Keith, the ...

Re: Trying to create index with imported PDF - page numbers

Hi, Celeste, I hope I'm following your chapter/section right. Also, if you've just moved to Mac and are therefore new to NWP, welcome, though it must mean learning a new application. NWP is great and a great companion to Scrivener. My immediate reaction to your two 'sticklers' would be, in NWP, to i...

Re: Trying to create index with imported PDF - page numbers

Hi Celeste, First of all, if Garamond—of whatever flavour ... I have both Adobe Garamond Pro and EB Garamond—is on your Mac, which you can check by opening FontBook and seeing if it's there, then it should be available to NWP. Or did you produce your PDF on a different machine which has Garamond and...

Re: NWP and iOS: About Back&Forth-ing

Further comment: NWP and Pages-via-.docx calculate line spacing on headings—and maybe paragraphs, but it's not so obvious there—differently. So when you first open a .docx in Pages, you have to enter each one of your different headings and adjust the spacing, so that in Pages, Spacing = Font Size + ...

Re: NWP and iOS: About Back&Forth-ing

Hi @pbasswil, I've sent you a private message on the Scrivener forum thread. I guess it will get through to you there sometime. In the meantime, the best I can come up with for you is to export your document from NWP as a .docx and open that in Pages. It does preserve all the heading and paragraph s...

Re: NWP and iOS: About Back&Forth-ing

Mellel for iPad, whenever I've looked, will only open Mellel-native format files. So you'd need to open your RTF in Mellel on your Mac and save it in Mellel format, open that in Mellel on your iPad, then open it again in Mellel on your Mac, save it as RTF or Docx and open that in NWP. Not worth the ...

Re: how assign Nisus Writer Pro as external editor in Scrive

As a long term Scrivener and NWP user, I don't think its possible to assign NWP or anything other WP directly as external editor for text files. If you are really desperate, you could try using the 'File > Sync > with External Folder…' route, but I don't know what would happen to the extra features ...

Re: Page breaking oddly

I would guess this is the result of "Prevent Widows and Orphans" and/or "Keep with Next". I'm on my iPad at the moment, so I can't check the exact terminology.

Re: Export to RTF issues

Ah, this is one of those rare cases where file format is important. RTF does not save images. RTFD, however, does. You cannot use the File|Export command to save as RTFD, but if you just Save As and save it as a RTFD document, you can send that document (it's actually a directory) and all your imag...

Re: Get Info- Open With... Damages File?

To me, this is an Apple Bug in the last two OS releases. For me, using "Get info" I can assign a single file to be opened by a specific application; if I click to make that the default app for all files with that extension, they become unreadable. I have this with .mp4s, which MacOS insists should o...

Re: NWP on iPad?

I've tested Pages with an RTF compiled from Scrivener which works perfectly with NWP; Pages ignores footnotes, section breaks, and page numbers. I closed it in Pages without saving and opened it again in NWP ... all those elements were there. I didn't try saving it from Pages as RTF and opening that...

Re: Selecting All Text with the same background color

Yes. Put your cursor in an area of text with the colour in question and there should appear on the status bar at the bottom of the window a spot of the colour; click on that and from the menu that appears select all. :) Mark Sorry, I misread your question and also forgot I was in the Macros forum. Re: Double entries in Documetn Manager

For Proposal.dot, I've had this before, when templates created under a previous version of NWP or system weren't recognised. The solution I found was to open them by double-clicking the file in the finder, then re-saving it as a template and deleting the old template.

Re: Chapter numbers

Yes, I am saying to attach a numbering style to the chapter headings; it's just that for the reason I gave, I don't want NWP to do the numbering. The easiest way to set up such a chapter style is: 1) make a new paragraph; 2) set the font, variant—bold, etc.—and size using the Character palette; 3) s...

Re: Chapter numbers

You can absolutely do this already: 1) set up your heading styles, based on a list style with appropriate numbering; 2) set it to be followed by your "Normal?Body/whatever" style that you want to follow headings; 3) set the shortcut you want to use in the box in the dialog—one of the really great th...
