Re: how assign Nisus Writer Pro as external editor in Scrive

As a long term Scrivener and NWP user, I don't think its possible to assign NWP or anything other WP directly as external editor for text files. If you are really desperate, you could try using the 'File > Sync > with External Folder…' route, but I don't know what would happen to the extra features ...

Re: Page breaking oddly

I would guess this is the result of "Prevent Widows and Orphans" and/or "Keep with Next". I'm on my iPad at the moment, so I can't check the exact terminology.

Re: Export to RTF issues

Ah, this is one of those rare cases where file format is important. RTF does not save images. RTFD, however, does. You cannot use the File|Export command to save as RTFD, but if you just Save As and save it as a RTFD document, you can send that document (it's actually a directory) and all your imag...

Re: Get Info- Open With... Damages File?

To me, this is an Apple Bug in the last two OS releases. For me, using "Get info" I can assign a single file to be opened by a specific application; if I click to make that the default app for all files with that extension, they become unreadable. I have this with .mp4s, which MacOS insists should o...

Re: NWP on iPad?

I've tested Pages with an RTF compiled from Scrivener which works perfectly with NWP; Pages ignores footnotes, section breaks, and page numbers. I closed it in Pages without saving and opened it again in NWP ... all those elements were there. I didn't try saving it from Pages as RTF and opening that...

Re: Selecting All Text with the same background color

Yes. Put your cursor in an area of text with the colour in question and there should appear on the status bar at the bottom of the window a spot of the colour; click on that and from the menu that appears select all. :) Mark Sorry, I misread your question and also forgot I was in the Macros forum. Re: Double entries in Documetn Manager

For Proposal.dot, I've had this before, when templates created under a previous version of NWP or system weren't recognised. The solution I found was to open them by double-clicking the file in the finder, then re-saving it as a template and deleting the old template.

Re: Chapter numbers

Yes, I am saying to attach a numbering style to the chapter headings; it's just that for the reason I gave, I don't want NWP to do the numbering. The easiest way to set up such a chapter style is: 1) make a new paragraph; 2) set the font, variant—bold, etc.—and size using the Character palette; 3) s...

Re: Chapter numbers

You can absolutely do this already: 1) set up your heading styles, based on a list style with appropriate numbering; 2) set it to be followed by your "Normal?Body/whatever" style that you want to follow headings; 3) set the shortcut you want to use in the box in the dialog—one of the really great th...

Re: How to insert tab automatically after every outline list

My guess is you need to type Alt-Tab, rather than plain tab. Any use? Or have you tried that?

Re: Comments question

You add comments either by clicking the appropriate icon towards the right hand end of the toolbar, or from the entry at the top of the tools menu. If you export your file to .docx, anyone with Word, Pages, OpenOffice or a clone of that should be able to read your comments. If you save it as .rtf, p...

Re: single angle guillemets

The problem in terms of French or replacing single quotes with single guillemets across the board is that the many apostrophes that occur will also become guillemets; "l'étoile" will become "l‹étoile" for instance. I think remembering Opt-Cmd-3 and 0pt-Cmd-4 when needed would be much less hassle tha...

Philip, thank you so much; as always you have been extremely generous with your time, knowledge and expertise.
