Re: Memory usage in 3.2

I'm sorry you've seen slowdowns and high RAM usage for Nisus Writer on Big Sur. We have identified the cause of these problems and plan to fix them in the next software update, which we're currently working on getting ready for release. I'm sorry for the nuisance in the meantime.

Re: line thickness of an underline

That's correct, textual underlines are handled by the font. Increasing the font size may increase the thickness, as may changing the font itself. Different fonts have different underline characteristics. Another alternative is paragraph borders, if the desired underline can extend across the whole l...

Re: Nisus Writer Pro open Pages document as blank

Apple Pages documents are indeed a proprietary format. Nisus Writer comes with a file converter that can import Pages files, but only a limited subset and the quality of the import can vary greatly. As Adrian mentioned, you will likely see better results if you export the file using Pages. You might...

Re: gap at page-bottom

What you're seeing here is an often desirable feature called widow and orphan control. Nisus Writer automatically works to prevent single lines of text from appearing by themselves at the start/end of a page. If you don't like the feature you should disable the option. You will see it listed on the ...

Re: mis-placed softwrap

This is an (intended) quirk of the line wrapping rules, as decided by Apple and the Unicode consortium. You can read more about the behavior in this forum thread . The quick solution is that you can prevent the undesirable wrapping by inserting a "zero-width non-joiner" character. You should see tha...

Re: NWP documents don't remember Apple Dock status

Thanks for the post about this issue withoutFeathers. It would definitely be nice if Nisus Writer remembered which document windows were minimized in the Dock. I'll file a request that Nisus Writer should restore this windowing state after relaunching the app.

Re: Footnote spacing in 2nd line wonky when centered.

There are no options in any version of Nisus Writer to have different tab stops on different lines of the same paragraph, sorry. Only different paragraph can have different tab stops. However, Nisus Writer Pro version 3 does have a new option that might help you. When you enable "multiple notes per ...

Re: Missing Footnote divider line?

The footnote divider line seems to export to PDF just fine for me, using version 3.1 and 3.2. If you're still having trouble Vance, could you please send us an example document that exhibits the problem? I'd like to test using your exact materials, to investigate this further. It might help if you a...

Re: Placing Nisus rtf files in Indesign 2021 - Mac OS11

I'm sorry you're having trouble getting Nisus Writer's RTF files into InDesign. We make every effort to ensure our files follow the RTF specification so they're as compatible as possible. Your problem could be a quirk of InDesign. In the past we've seen it exhibit finicky and nonstandard behavior wh...

I hope that helps!

Re: location of style sheets

The general answer to your question is that each document has its own style sheet. Your "Title" style may exist in one document but not another. A custom keyboard shortcut can only trigger styles that actually exist in the document you're currently working on. So you may first need to import the des...

Re: nisus/word issues (including Hebrew)

I'm sorry you're still having trouble Hannah. I have one quick question: did you resave your Nisus file using the new version of Nisus Writer? That's a necessary step, so that Nisus Writer encodes your Hebrew text using improved methods. If you did resave your file and still have trouble opening it ...
