Re: localization of the interface in german

Hello Gerd:

Nisus Writer Pro version 3.0 does not have any non-English localizations, sorry about that. There wasn't time for us to update the localizations before version 3 was finalized. We intend to update the localizations later (including German), for a future software update to version 3.

Re: Boolean Operation Evaluation

If it's in the manual, I couldn't find it -- and this should be in the manual. (To the manual writer, hint hint :-) Quite right! Thank you for the post on this topic. The behavior you're asking about is called short-circuit evaluation . The macro reference should make it explicit whether or not Nis...

Re: Page/text margins color

One small clarification: you can have page guides visible on screen (ie: checkmarked on the View menu), but still prevent them from appearing in printouts and PDFs. The latter is controlled separately by a "print page guides" option in the Print dialog.

Re: Select Header Text

Hi Al- it looks like your problem is not activating PowerFind (or PowerFind Pro) mode in the Find command options. The macro command for PowerFind Pro (regex) should look like this:

Code: Select all

Find All '.+', 'E-i', '-ah'
If you want to use PowerFind then it looks like this:
PowerFind.png
PowerFind.png (8.99 KiB) Viewed 657 times

I hope that helps.

Re: Cross-references to tailored fourth level list style

In case this come up for anyone else: the problem was that Stephen wanted a single cross-reference to display information about multiple list paragraphs. He wanted to show not only the target paragraph's list number, but also the list number of the relevant enclosing list paragraph. For example cons...

Re: excluding levels from the document TOC

Philip is correct that there's no built-in support for this, but as he mentioned there are ways to workaround it if you really want. All the same I'll consider your post here as a feature request, thanks Shmuel!

Re: "_text_" to italic

It's not at all obvious why you wouldn't use "AnyText" as the wildcard. [...and at the moment I have no idea what "1+shortest" is/does. Time for some reading.] If you're willing to do a good amount of reading then you might check out information on regular expressions (aka: regex), which Nisus Writ...

Re: Macro to inventory Floating Contents

Philip just linked to this thread, and while his macro is neat and useful, there's a built-in way to do this now. Version 3 can show you a list of all floating shapes, where you're free to click through them at your leisure. Just use these two menus in succession: Tools > Shapes > Select All Shapes ...

Re: Two instances (windows) of the same file

Thank you for letting us know this feature is important to you. Split View does indeed already allow similar types of editing and workflows, but we can understand why some users might prefer to have multiple windows open for the same document.

Re: Cross-references to tailored fourth level list style

Hello again Stephen. I'd like to help you, but let me first clarify exactly what you mean. When you're talking about cross-references, do you mean those created via the menu Insert > Cross-references ? If so, then I assume the insert cross-reference window option "Insert Reference To" is set to "Lis...

Re: File Kind “Nisus Writer Glossary"

Hi Adrian: the quick answer is that you shouldn't worry about it much. What "kind" label is displayed by macOS and the Finder doesn't really matter. Nisus Writer and other apps really only care about the file extension and the data inside the file. That's going to be .rtf / RTF, even if the Finder i...

Re: Power Find(regex) quote meta characters

Hi Martin: yes you can use \Q...\E to escape meta characters in a regex find pattern. That works in both the regular Find panel and Nisus Writer Pro macros. Here's a quick example Nisus Writer macro: $sub = @string<\d+ \w+> Find All @String<T\w+ \Q$sub\E \w+>, 'E' That will match the text: Test \d+ ...

Re: Sort bug in glossary files

In case you need a workaround, you can use find/replace to remove the errant newlines. Here's a find pattern that will match the unwanted newlines:

Code: Select all

(?<=\f)\n
You can leave the replace expression empty to just deleted the found newlines. I hope that helps.
