Re: How to find instances of superscripts?

G'day, all It's great that this problem appears to have been resolved with a Macro. I suspected it would require the Macro Language because there are in fact a number of bugs in Find & Replace when it comes to searching for Note References. And there appears to be a fundamental design issue here...

Re: How to find instances of superscripts?

G'day, nev et al I understood what you meant and my method worked for me, but the way Note References were generated in your document may be different from mine. A couple of things you might try:– (1) Before you apply the Note Reference Character Style to the space in the Find field, apply the top t...

Re: How to find instances of superscripts?

G'day, nev et al For some strange reason, if you first select a slab of text containing one or more Note References and then perform a Find In Selection, you can do what you want. Set the Find field to a space, select that space, then Format > Character Style > Note Reference, and have the Formattin...

Re: Unselectable paragraph marker in the middle of text

G'day, Purpendicular et al You can also use the Find & Replace dialog to select all the footnotes in a document. Choose "Footnotes & Endnotes" in the "Where" field, choose a wildcard such as "Any" in the "Find what" field, and then "Find All"...

Re: Favorites in the file save dialog

G'day, Amontillado, Philip et al I was intrigued by this problem, but I couldn't find a satisfactory resolution of it, so I didn't post a reply earlier. But maybe it's still worth my while saying something about it. The list of Favorites that appears in a Save dialog box should be the same as the li...

Re: Tab stop outside of text wrap?

G'day, Pilcrow et al You can set a Tab to the right of the Right Line Indent, but it won't be respected in text layout. (We are talking about left-to-right text direction, and it would appear to be a bug.) The only way I can think of achieving what you want is with the use of a Macro that:– (1) dete...

Re: need help with find and replace, please

G'day, Philip et al Yes, that's much nicer. I suspected a Macro approach would be the best option, but I don't have anywhere near the facility with the Macro Language that you do, Philip, and in any case I thought I'd see how much one could milk the Find/Replace system for a solution. One of the adv...

Re: need help with find and replace, please

G'day, Seth et al Ideally, this would be handled by the "PrecededBy()" feature of the Find system. But, as you have found, you can only have one Paragraph Style in a Find expression. If you assign one particular Paragraph Style to a substring of a Find expression and then assign a differen...

Re: Subscription Model

G'day, all Bad idea. Subscription is no guarantee of "vibrancy". In any case, "vibrancy" is overrated. You only have to look at Apple's operating systems to see this. I don't want a continual avalanche of new "features", together with the inevitable attendant bugs. It's...

Re: Need to change compromised password

G'day, editor10 et al I feel a bit bad that no one here has been able to help when you've reached out with what must be a very distressing problem. Sometimes people don't respond to postings because they feel they don't have anything worthwhile to say on the topic. That's been my excuse in the prese...

Re: Setting margins and page size of open document

G'day, Victor, Philip et al While there appear to be no commands in the Macro Language to achieve this, it may just be possible to have a Macro run AppleScript code that uses System Events to access and modify elements of the Page Setup dialog (for paper size) and the Margins Palette. Once you have ...

Re: Hyphenation of words within quotation marks

G'day, Xuanying et al Hyphenation is a fraught subject, exacerbated by our general preference in the post-typewriter era for fully-justified text. The larger the font size and the shorter the distance between the text margins, the greater is the probability of finding unsightly "white space&quo...

G'day, Auerhahn et al

What you're seeing is now the normal appearance. Not all of us are happy with it (myself included), so Martin says that users in future may be given a choice.

Re: Hyphenation of words within quotation marks

G'day, Xuanying et al I don't think it's so much a question of where the quotation marks are, as it is of how the particular font handles the associated kerning. I performed the following experiment: I created two paragraphs, one with your text with the opening quotation mark and the other with your...

Re: FR: make Unicode U+202F visible in Nisus Writer Pro

G'day, Eric et al Or you could use a similar technique, but without involving the neighbors, to find all occurrences of the special character and then color them, with either a background color or a highlight color. This could be done using the Replace mechanism if desired. If you prefer a monochrom...
