Re: Pages inside a Document

G’day, levelbest et al As you have discovered, drag-and-drop does not work, at least when you drag a PDF document directly into the usual workspace of a Nisus Writer document. However, if you first insert a Text Box (eg, from the Shapes Palette) into your Nisus Writer document, it is possible to dra...

Re: Copy disabled

G’day, Cliff et al I think these sound like two different problems. Since upgrading to Mojave, I have noticed frequent (but unpredictable) annoying intervals of keyboard unresponsiveness; however, it is not confined to Nisus Writer. The period of unresponsiveness resolves itself within (say) 5 secon...

Re: Every time I work on an existing document it saves as a copy?

G’day, jrochest, Mark et al

I’ve tried a few things (including “Open as New File”, stationery pad, and reassigning the Cmd-S shortcut to “Save Copy As…”) but can’t replicate this behavior.

Have you tried quitting and relaunching Nisus Writer?

Cheers,
Adrian

G’day, janeverly et al

Help > Send Feedback… > Feedback Type: Feature Request :D

That is to say, I turned over all the rocks (including the Macro Language Reference) and could find nothing lurking underneath.

Re: A quicker way to delete Untitled files?

G’day, JapanRich et al Cmd-D used to be interpreted as “Don’t Save” in most applications, but things seem to have changed (unfortunately). Cmd-D in NWP now takes you to the Desktop, although it would perhaps be more logical to use Shift-Cmd-D for this, in line with the Finder. You can navigate the C...

Re: PDF Page Numbering Retention

G'day, Philip et al There is no easy solution here. A lot depends on the formatting of the PDF document (eg, with respect to headers, footers, page numbers, location of images, etc). In this situation, I myself would not merely try to fix the pagination on my own (original) RTF file. To do so would ...

Re: PDF Page Numbering Retention

G’day, Revue Guru et al Opening a PDF document in Nisus Writer doesn’t preserve the pagination of the former, as you have discovered. Many other formatting features are either lost or transmogrified. Could your publisher not send you a Word version of the final manuscript, complete with pagination i...

Re: Selecting all tables

G’day, Kadah et al

Click on a Table to select it.

In the Formatting Examiner Palette, click on the gearwheel at the bottom left, and choose Select All from the drop-down menu that appears.

Re: Really really strange behavior editing PowerFind Pro string

G’day, alanterra et al

I’m not sure there was a link in that earlier posting, so I’m not sure why the underlining occurs there now.

Anyway, as I recall, the idea (thanks to Philip) is to use View > Zoom when the Find & Replace dialog box is the active window.

Adrian

Re: Really really strange behavior editing PowerFind Pro string

G’day, Philip et al We have encountered a variant of this problem before:– https://nisus.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=7256 At the time, Philip, you suggested (for another reason) altering the zoom in the Find/Replace dialog box, and this fixed the problem for me. But there seems to be a bug in F/R...

Re: Changing size of text in different places

G'day, Howard et al Another possibility is that you observed nothing happening in the Replace field because everything stopped while some autosave operation was in progress. I’ve noticed this a fair bit since moving to Mojave. But eventually the contents of the keyboard buffer get dumped into whatev...

Re: Changing size of text in different places

G'day, Howard et al That is most curious. Check that you don’t have the text color set the same as the background color of the Replace field — unlikely, I know, but worth considering, I guess. Just for debugging purposes, type the Replace expression in the body of a NWP document where you can defini...

Re: Changing size of text in different places

G’day, writerhoward et al It depends on whether your 9-point subheadings are the only bits of text in 9 point. If they are, and assuming each subheading occupies a single paragraph:– (1) Use PowerFind Pro (2) Put “(.+)\n” (without quotes) in the Find field (3) Select the “(.+)” part (4) Format > Siz...

Re: unwanted changes

G’day, artful1 et al By the sound of it, I think coming to grips with Sections will prove useful to you. And it’s not that hard, really. Brief tutorial follows…. Window > Palettes > Switch to Palette Group > Sections You will see a variety of Palettes in the Palette Dock: Section 1, Header/Footer (s...
