You fiend! No fiend, I — randomizing the PDF slides lets me produce huge sets of flashcards for the students to test themselves with before the quizzes and exams. I've seen a sharp increase in test scores since I started providing these things to the kids, and it now takes me almost no time t...

shuffle - hooray
I just wanted to say that the Sort Randomly (shuffle) function has been powerfully useful to me on a daily basis when I make quizzes and PDF "flashcards" for my students. It saves me a terrific amount of time.

The Help file is actually a PDF file that can be found inside the NWP application package. If NWP can't find the file, the easiest solution would be to re-download the application and replace the one that is currently in your Applications folder. Thanks for the tip. I did find the newest version at...

two adjacent characters on the same line
At present, is there a way to ensure that two adjacent characters appear on the same line? I'm especially concerned about non-breaking hyphens - I know that [UTF+2011] has that function, but it's not present in all the fonts I use.

Help from the Help menu
Choosing Nisus Writer Pro Help gives me a message saying that help isn't available. Is there a file that I should have placed in some directory to make it available, or is the help document still in preparation?

Now place your cursor in a paragraph with the Style you want to change and go Menu Bar|Format|Character (or) Paragraph Style|Select All Style. With all the paragraphs of that Style selected, click on your preferred Style for them. Yes, but that's not the problem - the problem is ensuring that the n...

I understand this method, but the idea is that you scroll through the document and look at each thing that needs to be fixed, and fix them one by one. That means there's no way to fix one case and then jump to the next case, because you need to start out by selecting one case of what you're looking ...

searching for a given style
Some of my files, cobbled together from many sources, are a mass of variant versions of the same style names. I would like to consolidate a lot of these. But I don't see an easy way to actually locate the places in the document where a given style is used, so that I can see what the effect will be o...

If you're consistent about formatting, you can place the column heads in the document header (i.e., as a one-row table) and they'll appear on each page. But of course if you make a change to cell widths etc in the table, you'll have to do the same in the header. I wonder if there will ever be a way ...

Do you really want to have the user choose options from the cross-reference sheet? Or do you want a command to insert a cross-reference with options of your choosing? In principle, either would be fine. But since ( http://nisus.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2804 ) I would like to see more complex combi...

feature request: 2 "display text" options in Cross
I write complicated reference books, and often use Cross-reference with large numbers of bookmarks. I often need to display both the "bookmarked text" and associated but variable number such as a page or item number - hundreds and potentially thousands of times in a single document. At the...

Non-menu commands in macros
I apologize if this is an obvious question or one that has already been answered. I'm relying mainly on NWP-guide-b6.pdf for my understanding of Macros. It is very exciting finally having a way to automate tedious tasks - something I have been greatly missing from NWC days. In general, is there a wa...
