Re: How to move the insertion point into a header?

Hello credneb, wouldn't it be easier to manually select the desired header and then run the macro? Whatever text is to be pasted would have already been copied/generated anyway for the macro to work even if the desired header could be easily selected by the macro. You are quite right. As I explained...

Re: How to move the insertion point into a header?

Hello Philip, Yes, of course. There is the menu command "Go To Header" in the "View" menu. I overlooked that too! This menu command is the right thing for my purpose; and with the defined command you show us once again that there are few things one can not do with Nisus macros. :–) The macro was act...

Re: Footnote/Endnote References issue

Welcome to Nisus. I'm not sure I fully understand what you mean. Do you want to reference a footnote in many different parts of the document? Something like this: (see footnote 5.) If yes, then you can easily do this by inserting cross-references. Insert Reference To should be set to "Footnote" and ...

Re: Feature request  : Placeholder the the endnotes section

When testing the endnotes and the bibliography, I first created a Lorem ipsum document with 5 sections, then inserted the endnotes, and finally the temporary citations from Bookends. By my second test I inserted the endnotes and citations parallel and got a slightly different result. If you want the...

How to move the insertion point into a header?

Is there a way to move the insertion point into a header or a footer with a macro?

Obviously, this is supposed to be a part of a longer macro where something is pasted or automatically typed into the header.

Re: Feature request  : Placeholder the the endnotes section

I had other requests, such as automatic integration of titles in the headers, that would be helpful Are you referring to "running headers" or Mentions as it's called in Mellel? You can do this with cross-referencing. Bookmark the title, a heading or whatever text you want to appear in the header. T...

Re: Feature request  : Placeholder the the endnotes section

Hello MathiasG and welcome to Nisus! endnotes seem to always appear *after* the biblio That's what they do in Mellel. Not in Nisus. :–) You can have as many sections as you want. Place [endnotes at the] End of Document and remove the Note Area Divider. 1.png If you want the bibliography to begin on ...

Re: Style definition with macro

You will see a hyperlink applied to the selected text. Wow! Didn't know that this was possible. Nisus is full of surprises… About "macros behind text": In the Classic version I remember vaguely being able to right-click (?) on a word and a small window would then be opened where I could place the m...

this feature, which is more generally expressed as the desire to automatically run macros after certain special events, eg: open a document, invoke a menu, etc. Thanks Martin for putting the original poster's request into a broader context. I had first no idea why he was asking for a feature like t...

Re: Highlinting Indexed text

is there a way to highlight indexed text or otherwise mark it so by just looking at some text I can see at a glance whether it has been marked for indexing? Preferences > Colors > Marked Text > Include in index (auto) and … Include in index You need also to disable "Hide this highlighting" to see t...

Re: How to create a variable for "Any digit"?

Thanks for explaining the double pipe "or" operator, Martin. Very well explained. It's always fun to read something sharp from Twain […] I have German some heritage myself, but I certainly don't take any offense! I do find German compound words to be very practical The Twain text was actually meant ...

Re: How to create a variable for "Any digit"?

Hello Philip and Martin, Thank you both for valuable help. Before I jump in at the deep end, I would first like to address some of Philips corrections and suggestions. The Find command will return the number of find hits, which in this case should always be 1. It seems I had forgotten about that. Th...

How to create a variable for "Any digit"?

I need to find out whether the character that precedes the insertion point is a number or not. In case it's a number, the macro will do some stuff. In case it's not, the macro will do some other stuff. How can I do that? I tried $theFoundCharacter = Find @Text<\X>, 'rE' #$theFoundCharacter = Find "(...

superscripting the ordinal is not really a good thing
Sorry about that. I thought you wanted it superscripted. :–)
We'll have to delete $loc1 then and everything that follows to fix that. :–)

Re: Automatic Ordinals?

I frequently use a custom time string […]: "Dated this 3rd day of March, 2021". It's tedious […] to type that in every time Hello Vanceone, Here is a simple macro that should do what you want. Assign it a handy keyboard shortcut, such as commandKey dd. You can also place a button with this macro in...
