I tried opening an earlier draft from Nisus (an rtf) in Word; looked at it in Print Preview and it looked OK. But after a three or four seconds, the page size changed again to the new, annoying mystery one. Does that offer any clues?

MS Word page-size puzzle
I have exported the draft of my book to MS Word (for the sake of the multiple windows and hidden text ...) All works well, EXCEPT that page-settings is completely odd. When printed, the text has massive right and bottom margins. Yet the settings in Page Setup appear completely normal: A4, with the s...

Re: Page-size oddness in Word
Ho hum. The prob may have had something to do with the fact that I was looking at an unsaved (and slightly changed) version in Nisus, and the previously-saved version in Word (to which I had dragged it from the finder). After duplicating the Nisus.rtf in the Finder and opening the copy, all looks pe...

Page-size oddness in Word
Hi - I've just opened my Nisus.rtf document in Word (2004 for Mac, Version 11.1) and the page-size is all wrong. The document is A4, but in Word it looks as is the page is setup as something much larger and wider in proportion - huge margins below and to the right of the text-block, which appears to...

"Freezing" paragraph numbers: possible, or not?
Daft question probably, but... I've numbered the paragraphs in the draft of my book that's with my editor (using "Show paragraph numbers..." from the View menu) and have made copious notes referring to these numbers, for incorporation in the next draft. Is there any way of fixing these num...

'View' menu items go missing in 2.0.1
All of a sudden, I'm finding that the 'View' menu's top four items (Draft view, page view etc... everything above 'Zoom in') have vanished. They've also vanished from the key-bindings section of preferences. If I restart, they come back again, but I can't figure out what it is that's causing them to...

I'd go along with that!
But whatever you can manage, I'll buy.

Best format for working with Word?
Just to get this clear myself: When transferring work from Nisus to Word (especially if one hopes to take it back into Nisus again) do you recommend: a. 'Save as' .rtf b. 'Save as' .doc c. 'Export as' .doc ['Microsoft Word format (binary)'] So far (a.) seems to work best for me. (At least, on the bo...

Re: Fixing bookmarks for Word?
I'm using Word 2004, v 11.1. and I've exported as .doc, 'saved as' .doc and saved a copy as .rtf. All seem to work more or less; rtf seems a bit better than .doc; but none of them seems very happy with my verbose and self-explanatory Nisus bookmarks. Spaces seem to be a no-no. I'm trawling through t...

I too would really appreciate such a book. I _very_ much liked your book on Nisus Classic (still have it). Main thing of course is macros. In Classic, I made loads of them (assisted by your book). With Pro, this doesn't seem so easy - maybe it's inherently more difficult, maybe not. One thing that's...

Re: Fixing bookmarks for Word?
Mark asks: Are you "Saving" as Word from the <Save> menu option? That gives you RTF with a changed creator code. Have you tried exportin to Word from lower down the <File> menu as that creates a Word binary doc? I've tried it both ways (and done "update all fields"). The 'save-as...

Fixing bookmarks for Word?
I need to do a bit of to-ing and fro-ing between Nisus and Word (for why, see below). I've saved the document as a .doc. When I pick it up in Word, most of the cross-references (to bookmarked sections) no longer work. That seems to be because Word doesn't allow non-text characters in bookmarks, wher...
