It sounds like it has to be something unusual about that particular document, wordcount is apparently working fine for others (works fine for me also). I'm working on a 70,000 word manuscript, and here's what I've found The old version, (2.1.1) NWE uses about 69 M when open. 2.5 uses about 61 M when open. turning off update dialog

Can i disable the "update" dialog that wants me to update 2.1.2 every time I start up? I'm perfectly happy with 2.1.1.

By the way, I'm a big fan of NWE... I'm working on a 50,000+ word manuscript on a daily basis with no problems. This is exactly what I was looking for.
