Vertical text w/in textbox

I have a textbox and I was wondering if there is a way to have the text oriented vertically, as if you were applying a label to the spine of a 3 ring binder.

Here's an example that might make everything clear:

Different cell widths within same table

I have a document that I converted from MS Word to Nisus. A couple of the tables in the original document had tables where a few cells had different widths within the same table. I need to change some of the widths of individual cells but every time I try--as you've guessed--ALL of the cells change,...

Re: Box shape "moves" when pasted to another page

Another thing to check is whether you have any section breaks (and thus perhaps different page margins), or the "facing pages" section option turned on. If you're still struggling with this, posting (or privately sending) a sample showing two pages with the different placements would be h...

Re: Box shape "moves" when pasted to another page

I am just wondering something. Do I understand correctly that the two pictures are taken from the same file? Why does it look like the right margin is different? (I am judging by the visible "white" space.) Judging by this "margin" the frame's space is about the same from the ri...

Re: Box shape "moves" when pasted to another page

Mark: Would have never, ever thought of using a watermark. That's a great suggestion. Are you going to have all 102 students … 408 pages in one file? :? If you gave each student a separate file, then you could just make a template of four pages. Otherwise, this seems to me to be more of a job for a ...

Box shape "moves" when pasted to another page

I am creating a grade sheet for my students. To help the instructors when it comes to grading, I have decided to have a picture of each of the students. There are 4 pages for each student and there are 102 students. Thus my document would be 408 pages long. I would like to have the picture of the st...

Re: Microsoft Word 2010 compatibility

I’m relatively new to Nisus however I am working on a large document (or at least large to me, 122 pages) that was originally created in MS Word (but not 2010). Although this doesn't directly answer your question, I can confirm that I had "better results" when I saved the original, MS Word...

Re: Extra black lines after conversion from MS Word

I figured it out myself. The problem was random Border Lines in MS Word that did some weird things. I guess the Border Lines are "converted" to PARAGRAPH BORDERS. With a little effort, I was able to figure out which paragraph border was causing the line, either all the way across the page ...

Re: Extra black lines after conversion from MS Word

To clarify, by lines I don't mean carriage returns but blank lines.

And I can't click or select these lines.

Extra black lines after conversion from MS Word

I am working on a document that was originally created in MS Word, and the PC version at that. Instead of re-typing everything I opened up MS Word (for mac) and saved the document as an RTF. I then opened it in Nisus and started working. Almost all of of the document was properly converted, saving m...

Re: Copy U.S. English QuickFix list to other language?

I've learned that the strange character (that sorta looks like a big "W" )is called "LastResort." I too use PopChar and have tried inserting various symbols and have encountered the "LastResort" character. I kept getting this error message but never took the time to rea...

Re: Newbie: How to insert text box?

It is the button at the top right of the post you want to quote: quote.gif (The red exclamation mark at the bottom right is to report that post). I went back and looked and there it is clear as day. I kept looking at the options from within my reply. You know, Bold, Italicics, Quote, List, etc. tha...

Re: Newbie: How to insert text box?

Martin: I can't seem to figure out how to use the quote feature on this forum to make this reply a little easier to follow. Anyway, the "Shape Metric" palette is at the bottom of the toolbar that I don't normally see it. Initially I was puzzled because I couldn't figure out how to rotate a...
