Re: Cross-reference to list style in image caption?
Sorry - I was not clear. I meant that x referencing works. I did not see that you had fixed it.

Re: Cross-reference to list style in image caption?
I am puzzled by this. I find that the x-reference turns up in the list style box : as in my other posting I cannot always get the Figuire list sequence to work …

Re: Text boxes and blank space
Many thanks. I tried all those options. I will send any repeat instances. For anyone who is interested, it can be a bit tricky to use /tools/shapes/add caption to image if you want to have sequentially numbered (list) captions such as Figure 1, 2, ... ; I have not worked it out fully yet. It works f...

Re: Text boxes and blank space
Ah!!! Sorry for wasting your time. I have discovered 'add caption to image'! Brilliant! How could I have doubted that NWP could not do what I want? Works with numbered captions.
But still mystified about the blanks spaces. Did I miss a relevant post?

Text boxes and blank space
I may be testing NWP the limit: I insert small boxes with automatic numbered Figures, Tables etc, wrap text around them, and x-reference them in the text. The only way I have found to do this is to open a text box, insert the diagram, and insert a Figure XX style with automatic numbering, then set i...

Re: Preferences / New File: US English won't go away
Thankyou Martin. Oddly enough, British English has now appeared. That may be because I had restarted the Mac, and the previous setting had been English and not British English. So that problem resolved - I think your diagnosis was right, but that I needed to reboot. The image of the sample file rema...

Re: Preferences / New File: US English won't go away
Thanks. As I said, I have set a default file in the advanced tab, and that is OK. So I assume that once you do that then the new file / format tab is just irrelevant. If so, it is a little clumsy - I just wanted to be tidy!

Preferences / New File: US English won't go away
In preferences / new file I cannot change the US English setting. I have read Martin's FAQ. If I select British English the drop box returns to US English. The OSX is set to British English as first choice. All the styles are set to British English. The default style is set in the advanced tab, so I...

Re: Nisus vs Pages
This forum has been a learning experience for me! I have bought Scrivener and am using it with NWP as Mark as described, and it is indeed an excellent combination. Highly recommended for anyone who writes longish documents, reports, etc, which require assembling much information from different sourc...

Re: Nisus vs Pages
I take Xiamenese's point, which is really what I meant about 'specialist', and what I meant when I said it depends what you want. When I was looking for alternatives, having gone back to Mac, what *I* wanted was a word processor that could do what I was used to. That is the strength, I think, of Nis...

Re: Nisus vs Pages
As the other replies imply - it depends what you are looking for. Pages is wonderful but very restricted, like most of Apple's own software. You need to try them both to see what suits you. Nisus is great - the nearest to Word IMHO. Mellel, Scrivener and the others are somewhat specialist and requir...

lines, shapes and boxes
I see discussion of this in old posts, but no recent responses, so I assume there has been no progress. I am currently trying NISUS. It seems that a deal-breaker is the absence of the capability of making text boxes, inserting simple shapes, & drawing lines (all possible in Pages). All the alter...
