Re: So Window Tabs Are Not Permanent, Correct?

For those who, like me, do NOT want window tabs, here's how to disable them in Sierra. Go to System Preferences > Dock, and find the item "Prefer tabs when opening documents." Change the pop-up menu to "Manually." It's strange that this item would be in the Dock section, but there it is. So far this...

Re: Language palette with Japanese

Thanks. The Language Palette appears to display an entry from the Japanese reference placed highest on the list in Dictionary.app preferences. I also use Chinese, and it works for that language, too.

Language palette with Japanese

I most often work in English and Japanese. When the cursor is in English text, the Nisus Thesaurus -- or the dictionary, if the word is misspelled -- is active, but if the cursor is in Japanese text, it previously just went blank. However, in Pro version 2.1 I notice that when the cursor is in Japan...

Re: Copy all NWP settings to another computer

BTW, I would still like to know if there is any practical way of copying the "Fix typos" list from one machine to another.

The Nisus Documents folder was already chosen, but I did it again just to make sure, then quit and relaunched Pro. However, the macros and glossaries still don't show up. BTW, in QuickFix there is also a "Fix typos" table. On my desktop machine I completely changed the ex-factory set with my own set...

Re: Where is My License code?!

I recently purchased Pro from the App Store. I wonder how to find out what the license code is because (1) page ix of the Pro manual says that if we purchase Pro from the App Store we should register it with Nisus Software, and (2) I want to preserve the number elsewhere in case it's needed in the f...

In the Nisus Writer Pro Macros forum I posted a little macro that I use for this purpose. It does set a bookmark, but when you return to the place where you were, it is removed. I think it's under the topic "bookmarking with macros," or something like that.

AFAIK, basically you have to do it manually. Put the cursor in any footnote, choose select all, and get the count from the Stats. Then add that to the count for the main text if necessary.

In the future I hope there will be an option to include footnotes/endnotes in the count.

I too noticed that you cannot bookmark an insertion point (Nisus Writer Classic could do this). I wanted a macro to use when editing long files. What happens is that frequently I think of something I should check the whole file for, and stop editing to do it. But in a long file it's not easy to find...

I wonder if everyone is talking about the same thing. It's the revision tracking that has the balloons in the margin, isn't it? If that is the topic, then there is reason to pause for thought. All those balloons with dotted lines running everywhere reminds me of somebody's bad dream. Who on earth wo...
