Re: Powerfind question
Thank you very much Martin. That's very helpful. Thinking back, I have used PowerFind Pro for very simple search & replaces, such as searching for \n\t to replace it with \n in documents sent to me by Chinese students or colleagues with random tabs following newlines. But I feel I'm getting too ...

Re: Powerfind question
Thanks Adrian,
Now why didn’t I think of that?
Basically, this is nearly my first excursion into the delights of Powerfind—PowerfindPro is another giant leap for this mere mortal!—so I was only thinking about wild cards.
Lesson learnt!

Powerfind question
In case I need it for the future. I have been editing the script for a video commentary. At the end of each paragraph I added an estimate of the time needed with (approx. ## secs), ## secs being the number of seconds of course. Before sending the finalised script, I wanted to remove that parenthesis...

Re: PDF anomaly with Chinese
Mmm. It’s a really weird one. The OP in the Scrivener forum is working on a thesis/dissertation (not sure which as I believe US English reverses the usage in comparison with UK English, so as s/he is Chinese …) so presumably will be sending PDFs of papers from which fellow researchers may want to qu...

PDF anomaly with Chinese
An anomaly that came to light through a post on the Scrivener forum. A Chinese user was finding s/he couldn't copy and paste Chinese text from a PDF compiled from Scrivener. I did a bit of detective work on it and found that this was true when running Catalina 10.15.7, but not running Big Sur 11.2.2...

Re: Permanently floating Styles Palette
What you described is unexpected Mark. If you have a floating palette visible when you quit Nisus Writer, it should be automatically restored when you later relaunch the app. I actually use that setup with the Formatting Examiner palette: it remains visible and floating at all times. I just tested ...

Permanently floating Styles Palette
I don't know if I'm missing something or if this should be a feature request. I'm running NWP 3.2.1 on my 5K iMac with 10.15.7 and on my M1 MacBook Air with 11.2.1. I like to have the Styles Palette floating while I'm working but with all the other palettes attached to document left. However, I have...

Re: Show Invisibles
Actually, this already behaves as it should: if you change your Nisus New File template so it shows invisibles by default, then any non-Nisus files you import will follow those settings. Thank you Martin. Truth to tell, I don't know if I previously had it switched on in Nisus New File on my now dec...

Show Invisibles
Am I the only one who wishes that I could always have "Show Invisibles" turned on automatically, I have it set in my Nisus New File template, but that doesn't affect exports from Scrivener or Word documents I'm sent.(Yes, I know there's a shortcut … which I always forget!) A Preference set...

Re: Split Document into Pages
As an aside, I've used this http://cheapimpostor.com on PDFs from NWP. Did the impositioning well, especially considering the price. I haven't used it for a long time, though, but your post prompted me to look it up to see if it is still being developed/maintained … it is.

Re: Finding superscript ordinal numbers
If you don't want to get involved with RegEx: 1) highlight a superscript 2) Look in the "Format Examiner" palette, where you will see Superscript as one of the attributes in "Applied Formatting" 3) Right click on the word Superscript and choose "Select all" from the dro...

Re: infoclick update?
Yes it's there in my two copies of NWP, but I haven't seen the prompt. I've never installed InfoClick on either of my machines, and one is running 10.13.6 and the other is running 10.15.7, if that is of any significance.

Re: Delete page breaks
In the Find dialog, click the cogwheel by "Find What", then from the dropdown menu choose "Wild Card" and "Any Break" is in the third section. Or, if it's just a "page break" that you want to remove, you can: simply make sure your cursor is in the "Find&q...

Re: NWP and Bookend - Case issues
What format is applied to the bibliography? I have tried 2 different formats: my own that I have built over the years for my AIAA papers and the standard APA 7th that comes with BE with no alterations. Here is what APA 7th looks like (same problem): This is why I think it's a Bookends problem not a...
