In case you missed it, 2.1.1 is out. Get a complete list of changes here. This release is intended to fix some crashes a number of users were experiencing. Because it is important to us to get crashing bugs fixed as quickly as possible, we did not include fixes for every issue people have reported to us. We have another bigger release planned for a few months from now that will include these fixes.

Although not every fix I wanted is there, I must say this is a good release. Version 2.1.1 brings back the stability of 2.0.1 with a big speed increase, a more robust feeling, and lots of bugs squashed. Well done, guys.
I greatly appreciate you fixing of the Dutch quotation bug. I did, however, notice another one: after e.g. an elipsis, or a series of dots (…) NWE inserts an opening quotation mark, instead of a closing one …
It’s a really great product. I’m almost ready to trash Word, except… Strangely enough, it doesn’t display it’s own document icon next to the document title. The functionality is still there (i.e. Command-click brings the familiar folder hierarchy menu, and clicking the “blank” space where the icon is supposed to be reveals the bigger icon and lets you drag the document reference around).
This, however, works as expected with, say, Word documents. But not with Nisus docs. Bah!
Is there a workaround for Mac OS’s spellcheck bug? It doesn’t seem to know that in American English, we don’t use spaces around the em dash.
Feature request: small caps!!!!!!
Team Nisus – Nisus Writer Express is a great product. I was a power user of Nisus Writer – even wrote my first book using it. Now I’m a zealot for Nisus Writer Express. The old clunky MS Word sits burried in my applications folder collecting digital dust. I wouldn’t trust any other application with my writing work. I recommend it to everyone, and I just started my 9 year-old son on the path of enlightenment. He’s using NWE to do his school reports.
Nice work all around. Great interface. Rich features. Intuitive design. Keep up the great work.

Hi. I’ve just started using Nisus 2.1.1 on OS 10.3.8.
And I have some large files. the 300 page one is taking over 2 minutes to open… Applying formating it what seems to be taking the time, mind you this file has just been converted from Nisus 6.5 under OS 9.2.2. Any ideas for improving the speed? Thanks
Chris: Have you tried saving your file as RTF? Opening classic files can take some time, but once you resave the file as RTF and open it, everything should run faster for you.
