Typing characters with a circumflex

Post by louiskbb »

On page 468 of the manual an explanation is given for typing special characters.
However the instructions for the circumflex produces another character.
Please could you kindly help.
I use a Mac Pro with Mountain Lion.
I purchase Nisus Writer Pro about three weeks ago.
Thank you kindly.

Hi Louis
Diacritical features, like many characters, depend on the keyboard layout you are using.
To produce a circumflexed letter like ê in experiência on an American keyboard you would hit ⌥i + e.
If you're not using the American layout chose Show Keyboard Viewer from the Input menu in the menu bar (which in turn can be activated from the System Preferences' Keyboard preference pane) and hold down the ⌥-key. The highlighted symbols are diacritics which can be combined with certain characters in the manner I described above.
Hope this helps :)
Sebastian
