Versions

Post by sjha »

If I have understood correctly in Nisus Writer Pro 3.1 I should be able to access a list of prevous versions of a document from the File menu. However I don't see the command File>Versions that is given in the user manual. What am I doing wrong?

Don't you see it there?

Mark's screenshot shows the new menu accurately (thanks for posting it!). You should see the Versions menu exactly like that.

sjha: what version of macOS are you using?

I'm using El Capitan 10.11.6. Could that be the problem?

That could indeed be the issue. Although the new Versions listing feature is provided by Nisus Writer, its placement on the File menu depends on Nisus Writer properly identifying the place it should appear. That is, Nisus Writer needs to identify the Revert To menu as provided by Apple and macOS. That's not as straightforward as a person might expect. It's entirely possible that process is not working properly on 10.11.

We'll have to investigate further, thanks for letting us know. I'm sorry for the trouble!

I am an Express user running El Capitan 10.11.6. I found the Version command in the Show Document Manager. Just pick a file and execute Contextual Menu [Control - Click] and you should see the command List All Versions. Hope this helps.

Thanks Joe, You are absolutely right! That's the way to do it. It would be helpful if this could be included in the next version of the user guide as not everyone is using the latest Mac system.

That's a great workaround, thanks Joe! I forgot about the other menu that provides access to Nisus Writer's version history listing.

This problem should be fixed in Nisus Writer Pro version 3.2. You should see the menu File > Versions on older systems like OS X 10.11

Thanks Martin. I've updated and can confirm that File/Versions now shows up on my MacBook Pro with OSX 10.11
