Overbar

Post by quiggin »

Is there any way of adding an overbar to a character (I want p) in current versions of Nisus. I recall it used to be feasible and Google produces hits from the 1990s supporting this, but all the recent discussions Iʻve seen are unhelpful. I donʻt know why such a basic feature isnʻt supported in Unicode (if it isnʻt)/

Hi quiggin –

what language/transliteration is p̄ for? You can compose characters, you have no pre-composed ones available for, on the wild via "U. S. Extended" keyboard. Therewith enter your "character" first followed by "SHIFT/OPTION:A" for a macron thereon. For other options inspect "Show Keyboard Viewer" while in "U. S. Extended" keyboard.

Enjoy

@Elbrecht Thanks, that works fine. I'm in Australia so I used ABC Extended rather than US Extended which is not available on my Mac.

Hi quiggin –

you are right: "U. S. Extended" is now with newer MacOS called "ABC Extended" – I happened to post from Mavericks!
