Is it possible to get bullet lists to indent for subtopics? I read a FAQ, but some listings are old and some suggest macros. I am guessing there is a straightforward way.
Am using Nisus Writer Pro 1.3 with OS 10.4.11.

This can be done quite simply. And actually, by default new files you create should already have bullets in sublevels/subtopics indented.
However, if your document does not have the indents you desire, here's what to do:
1. Switch to the Stylesheet view.
2. In the style listing (on the left) select the list style you want to modify, eg: "Bullet List".
3. In the list preview (on the right) select the list level you want to adjust, eg: "• Level 2".
4. Use the Lists palette to adjust the "Item" and "Text" indents (or drag the indent markers on the ruler).

If you go to my site http://www.worsleypress.com/NWP_Outlining.zip you can download my outlining template plus instructions. That's to do with different levels with numbers but numbers of symbols, it's all the same in the end.

In the Lists palette, how about implementing industry standard practise, and instead of "Item" and "Text", have:
Left Indent: Replacing "Text". This is the left indent for the paragraph in a left>right reading document. That would switch to Right Indent for a right>left document. This is the paragraph indent
First Line Indent: Replacing "Item". This is the indent of the first line of the paragraph, which is relative to the paragraph indent. It will be negative in the case of an outdent (e.g. -- what's common with bullet points and such, where the first line begins closer to the aligning margin than the remainder of the paragraph lines) or it might be positive (where the first line begins further from the aligning margin than the remainder of the paragraph).
Right Indent: This is an added feature here. Obviously, right indent for a left>right doument, and Left Indent for a right>left document. Points are often indented both left and right. It would be neat to have that set up in the same formatting palette.
