entries appear vertical when pasted in the find/replace box

This has to do with formatting: Nisus Writer's find/replace system will display all the formatting of pasted text. That includes ruler formatting, like indents. Because your file's text has a large tail/right indent, when it is pasted into the find field, only one character can fit per line. This doesn't affect the behavior of the find operation at all. However, when pasting text with large indents, you could sidestep the problem by pasting as Text Only.
