How do you set the program to auto number lines in a document?

If you mean what I suspect you mean, Nisus Writer Express doesn't currently offer what you are looking for. It does have a Number Renumber Lines macro, but this places a hard number (rather than an automatically updating number) at the beginning of each selected paragraph, which probably is not what you are after. More automatic is the paragraph numbering feature. (See Lists in the Format menu or else the Lists palette.) This also applies to paragraphs, not lines. That is all that I am aware of at the moment.

See the topic "Legal Pleading Papers" where this was requested. As a work-around, one informant recommended the nifty program PDFPen. He converts Nisus documents to PDF and overlays them with line-numbers.
