An error occurred during the import…

Post by MAH »

I just upgraded InfoClick to 1.2.3 and am getting the following error message:

An error occurred during the import.
Bookmark data previously captured for a file is invalid.
File path: ~/Library/Mail

How do I fix this? Thanks.

It sounds like a problem caused by sandboxing. InfoClick version 1.2.3 is now sandboxed, which means the system requires that you grant InfoClick access to your email folder(s). To fix the problem:

1. Open your InfoClick preferences.
2. In the "Email Folders" list, remove all listed folders (select each folder and click the button with the minus icon).

3. Now click the button with the plus icon. A folder selection dialog will appear on screen.
4. In the dialog, select and confirm the email folder used by Apple Mail. Depending on a variety of factors, that folder may be either of the following:

Code: Select all

~/Library/Mail
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
If you're unsure which folder is correct, and both folders exist on your Mac, just add both of them.

5. Wait for InfoClick to finish indexing the newly added email folder(s).

Please let us know if you continue to have trouble.

Yes, deleting existing entries and then re-selecting the mail folder did the trick.

Thank you.

I am having the same problem.

I am able to delete the old paths to mail (there were two). But when I select ~/Library/Mail folder, it doesn't enter.

What happens after you select the email folder exactly? Do you see an error message on screen?

If you see an error related to permissions, or something regarding the capture of bookmark data, that means the system (macOS) is denying InfoClick access to the folder. That's not something that should occur, as you (the user) should be able to grant an app like InfoClick access to any folder you yourself can access. That said, I've seen this happen a few times, and it seems to point to a problem with the system's sandboxing security features.

One user told me he was able to resolve this problem by running some diagnostic tools on his hard drive / file system. Another user was able to solve this problem by completely resetting InfoClick's sandbox. Please let me know if you need additional help.
