Can the iPhone read Nisus .rtf files?

I put a Nisus rtf file into DROPBOX and tried to open it from Dropbox on the iPhone v4. But this produces an error. The same file saved as PDF does open on the iPhone from the Dopbox. Is this because iphone needs a particular software to read a Nisus rtf file?

iOS on my iPad (3.2) and 1st generation iPod Touch (3.1.3) both read .rft files saved in Nisus through Dropbox, but on my iPad will not open them in Pages. Nisus files saved as .doc will not open in Dropbox or Pages. Nisus documents exported as a binary .doc open in Dropbox and in Pages.

RTF is not one of the supported file formats for Pages on the iPad, only .pages, .doc, and .pdf formats are supported I believe. Doc format files created in Nisus by "save as..." don't work because they aren't binary .doc files, they're actually disguised rtf files with a .doc extension (which is why .doc files created by Nisus's export function do work, they're real binary doc files which Pages does support).

I thought I had found a solution with recent software for the ipod.

One is called Air Sharing. But I think to read the user manual takes more time than I would ever gain by using it.

The other is called Droptext. It cannot read rtf, but at least it can read txt files, and you can also edit them on the iPhone with Droptext.
This works well on a Macintosh with a textfile produced by TextEdit. But it does not work with a text file that comes from Nisus (with save as text): If you try to open a Nisus text file on Droptext, you get an empty page, (which you can edit, but probably only to lose what you have on that page). Any explanations from a Nisus guru?

I haven't tried Droptext, but I might guess the problem has to do with text encodings. NWP ultimately uses the same plain text saving mechanisms as TextEdit; they are provided by OSX. But perhaps the text encoding you've specified in NWP isn't supported by Droptext? Have you tried UTF-8 (which is what TextEdit defaults to)?
