Cross-references to tailored fourth level list style

As mentioned in another post, I am a very new user of Nisus Writer Pro so there may well be something obvious I have overlooked. I apologise if that is the case.

I have created a tailored tiered list which goes like this: 1, 1.1, 1.1.1, 1.1.1(a), 1.1.1(a)(i). Each list level is linked to a paragraph style. I can create cross-references to any of levels one to three but no lower level paragraphs appear in the cross-reference dialog. They do appear in that dialog if I use the more normal lower levels (1.1.1.1, 1.1.1.1.1, etc.). Have a taken a step too far and am expecting something to work which can't possibly work?

Hello again Stephen. I'd like to help you, but let me first clarify exactly what you mean. When you're talking about cross-references, do you mean those created via the menu Insert > Cross-references? If so, then I assume the insert cross-reference window option "Insert Reference To" is set to "List Item". Is that correct? If so, then it should display all list items in your document, no matter how deep the listing level.

Could you please send us a sample document that exhibits the problem? I'd like to see the issue firsthand if possible. The best way to send us files is via the menu Help > Send Feedback, or you can email them to us directly at this address:

Thanks so much for the reply. I suspect I know what the problem might be and I did not explain adequately quite how I'd set up the tiered list. It was misleading of me to refer to levels being 1, 1.1, 1.1.1, 1.1.1(a) etc. and I will send a sample document as you suggest. I think it's better I don't try to explain the numbering sequence here because it will become very complicated. However, I did create the cross-references in the manner indicated in your post.

Let me create a sample and sent it in due course. I much appreciate the support—and the product is superb!

In case this come up for anyone else: the problem was that Stephen wanted a single cross-reference to display information about multiple list paragraphs. He wanted to show not only the target paragraph's list number, but also the list number of the relevant enclosing list paragraph. For example consider the following document text:
1. Red.
2. Green.
3. Blue
    3.1. Navy
    3.2. Cyan
        a. Celeste
He wanted a cross-reference targeting the paragraph "Celeste" to display not only the list item "a", but also the enclosing "3.2", so something like "3.2(a)". Nisus Writer does not currently have this feature; it can only display a single list item per cross-reference. To accomplish the task two cross-references would need to be inserted.
