Section Management

Post by DR King »

I'm a new NWP user (after decades of MS Word). I'm pleased with NWP so far, but I'm trying to figure out if its possible to do the following for a document with multiple sections:

1. Change section order (dragging sections around in the Table of Contents pane would be ideal but it doesn't seem to work)
2. Delete sections (would love to right-click in a header and see a delete option, but that doesn't work either)

I don't see anything in User Guide that explains how to change section order or delete selected sections. Can someone please explain if this can be done, and if so, how?

Thanks

Welcome to Nisus Writer, and to our forums! I'm glad to hear you're generally pleased so far. As to your questions:

1. The Navigator sidebar will allow you to rearrange sections, assuming you begin the relevant sections with a top-level TOC entry. If you drag-drop a TOC entry all its corresponding content will come along for the ride, including any section breaks within that content.

2. There is no built-in way to quickly delete a section. How about a macro? I'll attach a macro that selects the current section. The macro expects that you run it while the selection rests in the main document text (not a header). You can then just press the Delete key.

I hope that helps!

Thank you! I see I can move sections around in the Navigator.

Haven't really explored macros yet, but I saved your attachment and will try it eventually.

Thank you!
