Changing default margins

In Nisus Writer Pro 3, is there a way I can reset the margins so that whenever I create a new file all the margins are one inch?

You should change the margins in your Nisus New File. Look in Preferences > New File > Advanced and open the file for editing.

After I open the file for editing and change my margins, then what do I do to save those settings as the default?

If you open the Nisus New File template file for editing just save your changes and close the template document window. Any time you create a new document the template is loaded/duplicated from the existing template file on disk.
