Re: What is Nisus doing when it is "typesetting text"?
I am running an agenda here, just as you suspect. I want to switch to Nisus. So switch! Save the document in NWP and stop worrying. By the way, Microsoft created RTF. Actually, it wasn't. It was an industry standard joint development. MS was a leading player, of course, and the moment RTF wasin gen...

Re: Facelift?
Nisus is perfectly integrated with Mac OS X's look and feel. What someone is perceiving as old, is the Mac as a whole. After the new flat/swiss aesthetic was bought in by mobile operating systems, the whole real-desktop methaphore has aged. What I hope is that Nisus will always remain perfectly int...

Re: What is Nisus doing when it is "typesetting text"?
There were a lot of good ideas—and clues—in these last posts. I saved the file as RTF, ZRTF, and DOC and had the same problem with each format. The typesetting time of 15 minutes was subjective, because it took so long that I didn't watch it. Ken, it wasn't "subjective" it was total rubbi...

Re: What is Nisus doing when it is "typesetting text"?
Okay, so now I can’t let this go. I copied and pasted up to 300 pages. With about 20 or so different fonts in use, the NWP took about 10 seconds to typeset the document. I then selected all, changed it all to Times New Roman (which reduced the document size to 255 pages), and it opened in about 5 se...

Re: What is Nisus doing when it is "typesetting text"?
Ken, I have been watching this because I do wonder about it. It doesn’t bother me, though, as I generally don’t do documents that large -- I max out at a few thousand words. In addition, I don't work in either Pages or Word. Something confusing, though, is Philip reports making a test file from Proj...

Re: Spelling checker won't forget a word
Spelling dictionaries are text-only files. So you can open and save it using TextWrangler or any other text editor. Maybe TW won't open it on double-click, though. Open TextWrangler first and then drag the dictionary on its icon on the dock. Henry. But where is the central OS X dictionary? Is it th...

Re: Spelling checker won't forget a word
OK, got it at last. Why couldn't I see it before? But what I see is not the same as the screen shot. I have been dickering around with a non-word "liddl". it just showed with the spelling notification underline here in Firefox, but in NWP and TextEditor, it is not marked. NWP and TextEdito...

Re: Thank you
Fun fun, fun, dumiya! Welcome back. Apple has been behaving in odd ways with its own programs -- it totally rewrote and dumbed down Final Cut some years ago but I am told it has since built up the new Final Cut into something more like the old Final Cut. Its high level image management and processin...

Re: How do I get the Nisus Writer Pro from the App Store?
I'm sorry but there is no way to convert the license key you bought directly from Nisus Software (or any other developer) into a free download from the Mac App Store. This isn't likely to ever change, because it would open a big loophole in Apple's 30% take on every sale. that way whenever a new up...

Re: A Question About Kerning: TWIPS
Philip that is most helpful -- as ever.
As for the OP's question about TWIPS, yes, that is what they are but since you have set up your macro to work as a percentage, which works perfectly fine with computer type, TWIPs are not required.
Merry Xmas and a happy NY.

And to be able to lock the positions as you can't move them by accident so easily.
Maybe any movement of them should demand the use of a modifier key. That would help.

Re: Default zoom setting for newly converted files?
This is a thing that has nagged at me, too. I have a hi-rez screen on my MacBook Pro (the old 15" hi-rez -- matte too, what a joy to use!) so my standard zoom when working in NWP is 125%. I too would like to be able to have NWP open converted files st 125% rther than 100%. Why not? Template fil...

Re: Different cell widths within same table
This leads me to a feature request: It would be nice if one could do something like this: Press a key (command? or option?) and then drag the width/height adjusting cursor. This would change the column width (or row height) while keeping the overall table size the same. In this case the columns to ...

Re: 2.0.7 is last intended release for 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Yep, there we go, folks -- NWP 2.0.7 will be a "legacy product" when the next version of NWP rolls out … but given NWP history that shouldn't be for a year! LOL! I'm not sure you are using the word "progress" correctly, Martin. I don't see a lot of "progress" with Apple...
