Moving Classic Nisus Writer documents from an OS 9 machine to an OS X machine results in the file showing up as a Unix Executable File on Mac OS X. This happens because Classic Nisus Writer files have resource forks that store your formatting information. OS X does support this, but PC formatted dri...

What should I do with Classic user dictionaries, macros, etc
If you have made a complete switch from Nisus Writer Classic (6.5 and earlier) to Nisus Writer Express, until such time when we enable User Dictionaries, reading of old Nisus Writer Macros, Glossaries, Stationery Files, etc. we suggest you put those old files (in their folders) from your Nisus Write...

I am new to Nisus Software. What is your philosophy?
Our mission is to “enable the creativity of the user.” We try to remove as many (traditional) limitations as possible. How do you pronounce "Nisus"?
This is, without a doubt, the most frequently-asked question we hear. If you refer to your Nisus Writer manual or your nearest unabridged dictionary, you can confirm that nisus is an ordinary English word deriving from the Latin Niti meaning “a striving, effort, or endeavor.” It is pronounced like “...

Why did you purchase Okito Composer?
We had a project that we had been working on for about a year, and in August of 2002 Charles Jolley, the developer and owner of Okito Composer, wrote to us and told us he was moving to San Diego to attend school. When we evaluated his word processor, we found that it was very similar in vision to ou...

Why didn't you just port Nisus Writer 6.5 to Carbon?
We spent months examining porting Nisus Writer 6.5 to Carbon. We did not do this because for us, Cocoa offered more features for the same amount of engineering work. As an example, if we had ported to Carbon, our users still wouldn't have had features like Zoom, which comes for free with Cocoa. Then...
