Re: What is Nisus doing when it is "typesetting text"?

Patrick J. writes: I would worry about having all your entries in one big file. If that file became corrupt then you could find yourself unable to open it. But surely if that were to happen, I would still be able to retrieve a good part of my text by using a tool such as BBEdit or TextEdit. Is that...

Re: What is Nisus doing when it is "typesetting text"?

Hi Patrick, many thanks for a very interesting reply. Before I start thinking about diversifying to yet another software program - I feel I already have too many - I'd like to ask a basic question: why doesn't NWP also use this "package" approach? Or does it already, in some way I'm not a...

Re: What is Nisus doing when it is "typesetting text"?

It isn't just a diary of ongoing events - I also continuously insert and update early entries, based on various sources from that large chunk of my life when word-processors, and indeed computers, didn't exist. For that reason no past entries can be considered definitive, and I find it easier to up...

Re: How to find italic, but not italic bold

The thing I've always wanted in a word processor is a way of showing what attributes are applied in the text. I imagine this would use bubble-like indicators in the text which could be viewed or not viewed with a button. There would be a bubble for where the attribute started and one for where it fi...

Re: What is Nisus doing when it is "typesetting text"?

I have a 1,300 page journal with daily entries. As an aside to your question, I wonder if you have considered using something like MacJournal for this? MacJournal will keep each entry as a separate file in a MacJournal database. A MacJournal database is a package, which means it looks like a file b...

Re: Problem on Kindle conversion

What? Nobody? Am I the only user to have experienced this? I think that anticipating a response within 14 hours of your original post is probably a bit optimistic. Maybe someone who has addressed this issue will be along but not necessarily as quickly as that. The most likely source of knowledge on...

Re: InfoClick, Maverick and Google

Another thing to consider is that the missing emails will still be on your hard drive. When they were deleted it is only the directory information that is removed, so that they are no longer accessible. However to retrieve those emails you will most likely need to take the hard drive to a specialist...

I guess that as the cut off is stated as Snow Leopard then future versions of Nisus Writer will run on Lion and Mountain Lion.

Re: InfoClick, Maverick and Google

Now to the question: one says that nothing ever get wiped out on the internet. Isn't there a way to retrieve those mails? Google never answered my mail. There are online groups for discussing Gmail issues and maybe you could try them. These are hosted by Google in the "Google Groups" part...

Re: Does NWP have alignment guides? ...Booklet printing?

Hi lindas2013. I suspect that the new Pages 5.0 will mean a fair number of people move to Nisus Writer. To my knowledge Nisus Writer has no alignment guides. A program which may be of interest to you is xScope. This you can get at the App Store. I have used this for some years and it is generally ve...

Re: Nisus Pro and the Mac App store

If I was buying Nisus new today I would definitely buy it from the Mac App Store, and if Apple ever provide a way to transfer pre-existing licenses to the Mac App Store I'll transfer my Nisus license to it in a heartbeat. And hand Apple a third of the price, taking that away from the developers? Wh...

Re: Nisus Pro and the Mac App store

Is the Mac App store different for each country? I purchased Nisus Writer Pro from the Mac App store on 1st November 2013. I left a truly glowing 5 star review ☺ At present at the App store for me there are three reviews in total for Nisus Writer Pro and none for Nisus Writer Express. I think that p...

Re: Macro form of Find (and Replace) not illustrated in Manu

Thank you Philip, now I understand why it is the way it is. I have just been looking through the manual for useful things rather than reading it in a sensible way. I do think that using the Find/Replace commands in combination with the Menu Commands is really powerful and very simple. In the old cla...

Macro form of Find (and Replace) not illustrated in Manual

On page 409 of the manual it has this: Find and replace Find text , [options] Finds and selects the given text. Options is a string, each letter turning on a separate feature. This gives the impression that you just put the find string after Find and then the options in square brackets, like this: F...
