Re: viewing footnotes/endnotes
For endnotes, I don't know, apart probably from underlying code shared with footnotes. But consider, if you don't have a page in view, where are you going to put the footnote?

Re: Loading .doc files
The plot thickens. 1) Every time I try opening a .doc, the "Filters loading" alert comes up, I presume it isn't retained in memory as before because the previous import had failed. 2) I left an opening .doc running, and after a couple of minutes it failed with the "format not recognis...

Re: Loading .doc files
Not quite the same here. I ran the beta for the first time; tried to open a .doc and was told I needed to install Rosetta (Never had that before! Was Rosetta built into 10.5 and below but not Snow Leopard?) and it installed with no problem. Tried opening the doc again: filter-loading went through wi...

Re: Feature request: split screen/window
With apologies to the Nisus guys as I don't like recommending what might seem to be rival software, but if you haven't done so, I'd take a look at Scrivener from LiteratureandLatte.com: split screen, text in sections that can be moved around easily, and excellent for gathering research. I'm not conn...

Re: Truly separate margins for headers/footers vs for pages?!
Thanks, but this does not address my question at all. It's not "how to set header-footer margins," but "why can't I create separate top-bottom borders for headers/footers vs. main column of text?" Nisus Writer Express/Pro is a word-processor; InDesign, FrameMaker, PageMaker are ...

Re: Nisus Writer Pro 1.3 is now available
Geoff, While I understand your problem, how is NW going to know that you're not just returning to edit the file that you have opened anew? Do you want it to do that for every single file that you open? I think that would drive me mad. I've made the same mistake as you in the past, but I note that if...

Re: A couple of questions about headers/footers
You could set up the header and footer in the style you want within the Nisus New File or any other template that you create. And you can give fonts a colour, so, as a kludge, you could set it to black in the template, then while you are writing merely change the colour to a grey. When you want to p...

Re: Hebrew and English Text
If I understand what you want, I'd do this in a table without any borders, where each chunk — for want of a better word — of text was in its own cell which could be expanded or contracted as necessary. Whether you had a Hebrew row above and an English row below, or you simply used a line-feed in a s...

Re: Why does the NWP produce a 128% zoom page by default?
I would guess your screen pitch is more likely 96 to the inch, which is 1.333 of 72, unless you have managed to set it arbitrarily. 128 is also better in binary than 125.greenmorpher wrote:I wondered whether it had to do with the pixels on my screen. I believe they are 90 to the inch, which is 125% of 72.

Re: Keynote 4 and linkback?
Hi, I'm trying to use linkback with Keynote 4. I installed the plugin from http://linkback.nisus.com/2007/09/04/keynote-linkback-plugin-updated/. I use command-c to copy a slide or object in Keynote, and command-v to paste it into Nisus Writer Pro. But the objects in NWP appear to be plain old grap...

Re: How to create a solid line?
U+2500 was exactly what I needed. Thanks! I've only just seen this, but my solution is to put a centred single cell table the width of the document (or you can make it however wide you want it) with a small row height (but again that's up to you) and then put the bottom frame-line only on the cell....

Re: NWP 1.2 crashes HELP!
Sorry, Martin, I don't understand you (or it doesn't work like it should) When I change that Liststyle the way you've supposed, the list behaves the same way it does when I leave the checkbox unchecked. I choose COM-LZ and get a number 1. when hit the return-key I get automatically a 2. I don't wan...

Re: NWP 1.2 crashes HELP!
Hello everybody! I'm writing in a rtf document, 16 pages long, with 50 column breaks (on the same side, because this is the only - ms-wordish - way to number a chapter) and NWP crashes while writing! Does anyone know what might cause these crashes? Best regards and thanks for helping me, Matze I su...

Re: Two wishes for 1.3: Two up; page colouring Page View
As far as page colouring is concerned: I'm working daily with Mellel, Scrivener end also with Papyrus, and they all have a page colouring option. After years of writing texts on a soft green background (very gratifying for the eyes!) I can't do without it anymore. And as I said: in Nisus almost any...

Re: Two wishes for 1.3: Two up; page colouring Page View
I have two modest wishes for 1.3: I would like it to be possible to see in Page View two pages next to each other ('Two up'), and I would like a colour option in Page View for the page itself. In Nisus there are colour options for just about anything, but not for the page itself in Page View; and I...
