Alt text for tables

One more accessibility question. Current requirements for universities include tagging tables in documents with a description or alt text. Is this possible in NWP?

Thanks

Image alt-tags

Hi, For accessibility purposes I need to be able to add alt tags to images for screen readers. I couldn't find anything in the user guide on alt tags. Right clicking I can see the image description, but don't see a means to edit the image description. Is it possible to add alt tags to images? If so,...

Re: Footnote: question re. divider line

A small change can be made by changing the alignment of the divider line from bottom to center or top in the style. You could also create a larger gutter and then change the alignment to create more space if the alignment alone is not sufficient.

Re: Setting paragraph style within a text box

That's odd. When I increase the padding, it alters the distance between the space between the box line and the first line of text. I find these sorts of settings can be quite different from user to user, or probably more precisely document to document, though often I can't spot why. Hopefully one of...

Re: Setting paragraph style within a text box

I believe if you increase the vertical padding on the text box itself, that will give you the spacing you're looking for.

Re: English lit. doctoral dissertation workflow: Ulysses + N

I wrote my dissertation in Palatino and liked it's readability. When it was published it was done in Garamond, which also turned out very nicely. I know that many journals use Century Schoolbook.

Re: change roman to arabic in ToC

Have you tried rebuilding the TOC? If the doc had been created with Roman page numbering and the TOC was built, and then later the page numbers were changed but the TOC was not rebuilt it could result in the mismatch you have. Otherwise like you I don't see any way of changing between Arabic and Rom...

Re: Lulu complains Mac Quartz PDF inferior, says use Acrobat

I regularly use NWP > PDF for 100 to 300 page books. Some of these include header graphics, multiple columns, multiple colors, foot note separator lines, etc. These have been printed through traditional printers on digital web and offset presses without any issues. I would wonder if it might not be ...

Feature Request - All sections have the same margin

Greetings, I've recently been working on a large multi-section (21 sections) document. The margin set up changed several times from the initial draft to the final document. It would have been nice since this document had the same margins for all sections if there was a checkbox option that would all...

Re: Multiple Headers

Nisus will do different odd and even page headers if the facing pages option is enabled. To use this check the facing pages option in the sections palette.

Re: Nisus Pro files mysteriously convert to Text Edit

Irene, The control over what app opens a particular file type is handled by the OS not the app in most cases. To correct this, use the finder to locate an RTF file. Right click and Get Info on the file. You'll see an Open With option that will allow you to set which app opens all files of the same t...

Re: A few question

It sounds like you would need to set up the document with multiple columns.

You can alter the number of columns in the Sections Palatte.

You can insert the PDF as a watermark in the background. Tools > Watermark. Select the Watermark from an image file and then select the PDF. You can set the alignment in the dialogue box along with the level of transparency.

Re: Maximum number of footnotes

My last project (~80,000 words) had around 100 footnotes in each section (chapter) and I never encountered any problems with inserting new footnotes, so I don't think it has anything to do with the number. There must be something else or something else combined with the number of footnotes that's at...

Re: Format change for multiple open documents

I would love to see a Binder/Book feature like InDesign, to collect all chapters/documents in a book in a single binder, and apply the formattings of a master document to all other documents in the same binder.Paolo I second this request. I just finished a large book project. I used separate files ...
