I use both Mellel and NWE, and am torn - some days I like NWE, some days Mellel. For Mellel, I like the 1. True Unicode/OpenType support. 2. Fixed lines for footnotes (where the line spacing keeps increasing in NWE with footnotes). 3. Implementation of styles (different, but very helpful, and I foun...

That was done about 6 months ago 9maybe longer), so if I remember correctly they used NWE 1.1. Obviously much has changed in the past two months.

I would state it rather more strongly: variable line-spacing is unacceptable for any purpose other than drafts. This is not a matter of fancy typesetting. Even a typewriter will allow you to insert a superscript without changing the spacing between lines. Click.Click.Click.Click... Don't mind me, I...

Yep, I have the problem when I use a Hebrew font that requires higher line height, everything on the line changes. Something an "exact line spacing" would be ideal.

From personal experience (6 years of Nisus Classic, 1 year of NWE), I have emailed Nisus directly twice and posted on a couple of forums. Within 3-5 days there has been some kind of response that addressed my issues. Is NWE perfect? Not quite. But like the Mellel staff the Nisus staff provide gracio...

Unexpected Behavior and NWE 2.1 Feedback does not work

I tried sending Feedback from within the file, but Nisus would freeze, then crash. Even from an empty file, Nisus Feedback does not work. On the attachment I had originally set the Normal style to 12 pt Hoefler and all other styles accordingly. I also used styles for Greek and Hebrew. This specific ...

I had been leaning strongly to Mellel over the past four months (I had purchased it two years ago). I found many features I liked, particularly its unique approach to styles. And yet, it wasn't quite what I was satisfied with. Not sure if it was page setup, tables, style changes affected every docum...

Re: Style Issue

The other style issue I have is with Lists. I am college student and I use my word processor to take notes. I really like how MS does lists. When I am in list mode I hit return and it auto tabs to the same level as the last line, and it automatically "types" the sequential line item (i.e....

Yes, it has been consistent. I finally went in on Preferences > Advanced and selected "Restore Settings". Now it seems to take about 75% of the time. I will play with this more tonight and tomorrow to see what else is going on. I also found out that if you have a style selected in the name...

Style sheets not updating file?

Upgarded to 2.1 last night, and now it seems that anychanges in the current style sheet are not reflect in the current document. That is, if I have BodyTextIndent as a style, and assign it to several paragraphs, then decide that instead of 12 pt I want 11 pt, I change the view to StyleSheet, make th...

One possibility is to have all style sheets be built on Normal (with sub groups, i.e. all text styles built on BodyBase, and all headings built on Heading Base). Change Normal to be a light color, and all other styles change accordingly. Then right before you make final draft preparations, change th...

Yep, I had it checked (must be default). Then when I checked Document Manager - there they were!

Thanks.
