Select the text, go to the Lists panel, and set "none".

Re: The thesaurus needs improving

Actually, we ought to have a preference to use the OS thesaurus instead of the Nisus thesaurus in the Language panel. Still, I will just use the contextual menu command "Look up in Dictionary" in future. No biggy, but … In any case, I will be abandoned on 2.0.7 (on X.6.8) with the next upd...

Re: The thesaurus needs improving

Good lord, who would have known? Well, you, obviously, Hamid, but not me! I have never even looked at it. Now it has a place next to NWP in my dock. Many thanks. :)

The thesaurus needs improving

As time marches on -- and it does, although, sadly it seems to have moved to at least a jog now and is threatening to break into a full gallop at any time -- my ability to fish words out of my vocabulary when needed has declined. As a result, I am thrown increasingly on my reference resources, and a...

Re: if anyone knows of really good word processing apps ...

Framemaker is/was a dedicated desktop publishing program built specifically for the kind of task you are talking about -- it was long acknowledged as the killer app for such things as reference books and manuals.. NWP is a word processor. I had at laugh at/with a friend of mine the other day. he has...

Re: if anyone knows of really good word processing apps ...

Thank you for giving us a mention in that discussion Tom, we appreciate that! As for the 64-bit issue: we are aware that 64-bit is desirable and we do have plans to provide a 64-bit version of NWP. Please see my longer reply in the thread specially on 64-bit . "Desirable" from a marketing...

Re: if anyone knows of really good word processing apps ...

From where I sit, 64 bit code for a WP is BS. NW was dealing with very long documents with graphics on about half a bit code, dammit! Let’s get real here. You’re saying NWP doesn't deal with long documents? What’s your evidence?

Re: Future viability of Nisus

Have conditions changed materially from what they have been for years? I don’t think so. The only significant change from where I sit is that Nisus is about to walk away from income from 10.6.x users for the next upgrade. What percentage of Nisus's income this represents, I don't know, but presumabl...

Re: Linked vs. embedded images; auto embedding of linked ima

I would be nice too if we could specify which program would open images. Good grief, looking at the help file on this image stuff, which I don't use but am thinking I need to get into, I'm amazed at how far advanced NWP has sneakily become! Why didn't someone TELL me about this stuff coming on like ...

Re: Gee, NWP is a pleasure to work with!

Hi, Geoff I published two printed books through CreateSpace for selling on Amazon. The first one was a novel, very simple. The second one came out a few months ago. It’s 186 pages long, with a number of tables, about 50 images with captions, many of them floating. I have here a printed copy with me...

Gee, NWP is a pleasure to work with!

I'm just putting together the program for a professional workshop, writing it up in NWP. I have to beat my brain to come up with the content and it is simply a pleasure to be able to get it all down in NWP with appropriate headings and body copy type using my outline styles. I think I spent three or...

Or maybe the machine itself -- a hand-cranked 68000 with 128KB RAM and a single 400KB disk. :)

Re: What is Nisus doing when it is "typesetting text"?

Okay, I have tried everything. I cannot use RTF as the transitional file format because it does not preserve styles. The DOC format does preserve styles and it also renders better when it is in Nisus. After I save it from Nisus, of course, there is no loss in the styles or the formatting. I exporte...

Re: What is Nisus doing when it is "typesetting text"?

Some years ago I used Microsoft Word 5.1a which was an excellent word processor. This was in the 90s on the classic Mac OS. They had a very good design in that it was simple and logical. However I have never liked any versions of the program that I've tried since that time. Right on, Patrick. A qua...
