Re: Spell checking
Thank you, Martin, for the feedback. I am really not that concerned about this. I am glad to hear that it is not really a Nisus problem. The not remembering problem seems to have solved itself. Maybe there was something about the way I shut the computer down that cause the remembered words to go mis...

Re: URL list (plain text) to list of hyperlinks
Hello Rob, your basic pseudo code looks good. The place to get started is to look under Help > Macro Language Reference. This will open a file that explains all the available commands, but it may be a bit daunting at first. Here are the basic approaches that I use. First of all remember that there a...

Spell checking
I am not a big user of spell checking. I usually keep it turned off, and spell check by eye. But today I am correcting OCR and I decided to turn it on. I am really puzzled by some of the behavior. Since there are a lot of names in the text, I decided to have it "learn" some of them using t...

Re: Chapter numbers
Well here is one more idea. I have written a simple macro that inserts a number as simple text digits, marked with delimiters. In the current set-up the delimiters are 3 zero-width spaces, so you don't even see them. Every time you run the macro, a new number is inserted, and all the other numbers a...

Re: Chapter numbers
But how do I make a paragraph style enforce a list style? Switch to the Style Sheet view and apply the list style to the paragraph style. But it is nonetheless akward, that you have to create styles although you just want to use chapters. Wouldn't it be nice NWP rather would offer the user to creat...

Re: Need help with PowerFind
Not sure, but here is what I suspect:
Perhaps your replace expression had a ruler attached with a tab set with a leader, and the replace was set to replace with attributes...?
Or did it insert actual dots or an ellipsis (…) ?

Re: Need help with PowerFind
Hello Carol you almost have it right. There are two things: The first is you should (probably) put the "Preceded by" before the ", " The more crucial problem, which would be very difficult to figure out is that "Preceded by" does not like expressions with repetitions. &...

Re: Chapter numbers
Hello Matze, while I miss the NW Classic form of auto-numbers as well, I am wondering: How do the current list based numbers not work for your case? What type of numbering did you want? It should be easy to set up a list type ("Chapter") which numbers across the whole document and attach t...

No doubt the real Dave (or Martin, or Mark) will show up here in this forum to correct your impression. But will it be the real Dave? Or will it be "Dave"?

Re: can Tab be set to X characters?
Just to be clear: tabs in Nisus align to tab-stops, and tab-stops are set on your ruler to cm or inches etc. Aligning to "X-characters" would make sense only with mono-spaced fonts. Is that what you are talking about? (Some languages like Japanese use "mono-spaced" fonts as a rul...

Re: Copy & Paste Attributes Problem
The Times is Nisus "internal default" (along with black colour and 12pt, I think). Nisus seems to treat these things as "not applied" so they don't carry over (or in other words, if you apply them Nisus seems to remove them!). I'm not really that sure about all the interactions w...

Re: When will we get a major upgrade of NWP?
Like many others I wouldn't mind some sort of split window capability and simultaneous scrolling, but generally my main wishes run along the lines of improved macro capabilities and across the board consistency of interface. Macro control of graphics. The ability to adjust table cell size numericall...

I didn't say that I thought Nisus was flawless. There are lots of things I'd love to see improved.
(Just that Save/Autosave is not among those things.)

Re: When will we get a major upgrade of NWP?
OK, having an updated look and feel may not be important to you, but what about support for versioning and autosave? I find it striking that aside from Pages (and *many* text editors), there really isn't good support for these features in word processors. No thank you. Currently Pages and Numbers a...
