Thanks very much for the advice—I'll make the Tech (URL) language change.
You know, though, it's interesting: I saw but didn't consciously register the fact that spell checker flagged only the ends of some of the URLs. My brain parsed it as flagging the entire thing.

Spelling question
Is there a way to tell the spell checker to ignore the URLs it finds? The help file doesn't mention it and a search of the forum doesn't turn up anything. I'm finishing a major project with many references that contain URLs. I run spell check over the entire document every now and then, and it would...

Re: Crashing on initial save in Lion
Thanks for the note and link, Martin. It's odd, though. I follow Mac technology fairly well and had not come across it before.

Re: Crashing on initial save in Lion
Hate to sound naive, but what's this stuff about default folder 4.4.3 and 4.4.4? I've been using Nisus for a while and haven't heard of them.

Re: save as in lion?
Thanks so much for your help. That's exactly what I needed to know. And that means Lion is very much in my immediate future.

save as in lion?
I haven't upgraded to Lion yet, but on Macintouch.com, I saw a note from someone who said that Lion's autosave feature did not allow the "save as" function in applications. Has anyone had experience with this using NWP 2.0.1 with Lion? Are users still able to use cmd-shift-s to save a file...

zrtf
I'm curious about the Nisus compressed rich text format--the .zrtf. I see that Nisus opens it with no trouble, but is it best to leave it as it is? Or should it be unzipped and saved as a regular rtf or a document template? In this day of huge hard drives, is .zrtf worth using at all? Does it make a...

Re: Nisus Pro 2
The new version is a thing of beauty and a joy...well, if not forever, at least for a while. One of the things that gave me a hazy worry was all the new features and if, to support them, Nisus would switch to a different default format. I was relieved to see that rtf remains the standard. Great work...

Re: Nice words for Nisus
Nisus is quite fast, one of the first thing's I noticed.....It does get slow with larger documents, though. Not so much. I just finished a 139,000-word manuscript (the draft was in Scrivener and the final was in Nisus) that Nisus handled with aplomb—maybe a few seconds slower than normal in loading...

Re: Nice words for Nisus
Software is one thing: I'm among those who want instant response. When I launch Nisus or any other application, I don't want to wait around and have coffee while it loads. (I'm reminded of a crappy version of WordPerfect back in the day that took half an hour or so to get to the point where you coul...

Nice words for Nisus
Keith Blount, the developer of the excellent Scrivener app, had a fascinating blog post in The Atlantic about the differences among word processors. The whole piece is worth reading, but at the end he notes that Nisus is his word processor of choice. I totally agree. Since I'm not sure how to create...

Thanks for the link. Eccentric is good. The weird, um, distinctive guy should stay.

Re: i've been away but nothing's changed!
Sometimes no change is a good thing. It's kind of like leaving the living room furniture as is instead of moving stuff around. I mean NWP does exactly what it's supposed to do. It's bug-free and crash-free, fast and flexible. It's close to perfection....Well, come to think of it, there is one thing ...

Re: centering help
Thanks for the advice. It's no big deal to use the eyeball technique; I was just wondering if there was a command somewhere that could be used.
But far be it from me to mutter anything about vertical rulers--they're about as useful as the old Microsoft talking paper clip.

centering help
How is text centered vertically on a page? The horizontal (left-right) centering is straightforward, but I've looked in the NWP User's Guide and in the forum and can't find anything on centering text vertically (top-bottom).
