Re: space above and below heads

G'day, Philip et al

Now why didn’t I see that? Thanks, Philip.

Step 1: Have another cup of coffee….

Cheers,
Adrian

Re: space above and below heads

G'day, Dismas et al You can do all sorts of things in the Style Sheet:– View > Style Sheet (or use the Style Sheet button in the View Toolbar Item in the document Toolbar). You can use menu commands or Palette options to customize the sample text. So you can choose fonts, indentation, etc. You can c...

Re: space above and below heads

G’day, Dismas et al Assuming your heads and subheads constitute paragraphs, position the cursor anywhere within a paragraph and use the Spacing options in the Paragraph Palette to adjust Space Before and After as desired. These settings could be incorporated into Styles. A Style for a head might hav...

Re: NWP 3 Document Properties Feature Requests

G’day, Martin et al All right. I tried it on your file, Martin, and I got the same result as I did on mine; viz, the error message appears in the Replace field. That’s why I didn’t go any farther. This time, though, I hit the Replace All button regardless. Now, occurrences of the found expression in...

Re: NWP 3 Document Properties Feature Requests

G’day, Martin et al

I’m afraid the “Document does not have a ‘mydate’ property” error message is still generated when the Replace Formatting checkbox is ticked (and the mydate Property is recognized by the Formatting Examiner).

Adrian

Re: NWP 3 Document Properties Feature Requests

G’day, aersloat et al I had a look at this and I can’t see how to do this purely in the Find/Replace system either. But I did notice — as I think you have discovered — that pasting a property string from your document into the Replace field results (after a slight delay) in its being replaced (in th...

Re: Insert new page

G’day, John et al An approach similar to the one you described would be to assign a named Style (probably a Paragraph one) to each note. A list of all Styles (topics) would be available in the Styles Palette, the Style Sheet and the Format menu. Another approach would be to prefix each note with a s...

Re: Boolean searches

G’day, John et al Nisus Writer doesn’t quite require a scope along the lines you described (eg, paragraph or sentence). The drop-down Where menu in the Find & Replace dialog box gives you the default options available. My suggestion was that one can do more tailored specification by appropriate ...

Re: Boolean searches

Re: Boolean searches G’day, John et al Welcome to Nisus Writer. There is no Boolean AND operator in the Find system. The Find system essentially looks for strings. If you wish to find something containing both “this” and “that”, you would search for a string containing those words separated by appro...

Re: Word underline

G’day, Yohanan et al First, quit and relaunch Nisus Writer Pro. In fact, although it shouldn’t be necessary, why not restart the entire computer and then launch NWP, just to be sure. Next, select Philip’s macro from the hierarchical folder system in Nisus Writer’s Macro menu and see whether it works...

Re: Theming or using Dark Mode

G’day, Vanceone al OK. I followed the White Rabbit (aka Martin) down the rabbit hole and deep in the Warren of Wonderland I came across the Mad Hacker waving a piece of paper in his hand. Mirabile dictu , it was a script! — Script name: Toggle Day and Night — This script toggles the Preferences file...

Re: Theming or using Dark Mode

G'day, Vanceone et al I thought I'd write a short AppleScript script to do the job of swapping the plist files for different color preferences. (You need to go outside Nisus Writer because you need to quit NWP as part of the process.) But I'm afraid it didn't work. So I tried Martin's method manuall...

Re: Keyboard Shortcut for Special Characters?

G’day, Vanceone et al On the subject of inadvertent capitalization of the second letter in a word or sentence, I think the simplest solution is to select the offending word(s) and convert To Capitalized (ie, Edit > Transform Text > To Capitalized). I can’t remember whether the following keyboard sho...

Re: Macros not working in Mojave

G’day, mikecass et al

I think the default location for the Macros folder is:–

~/Documents/Nisus Documents/Macros

According to P. 624 of the Nisus Writer Pro User Guide, it should be in one of your Libraries, but this no longer seems to be the case.

Adrian

Re: Keyboard Shortcut for Special Characters?

G’day, Michael et al First make sure your special character appears somewhere in NWP’s Special Characters Palette:– Insert > Special Character > Customize Special Characters… Next, Nisus Writer Pro > Preferences > Menu Keys > Insert > Special Character > etc (until you arrive at the desired characte...
