This doesn't happen for me. The second quotation mark comes out as a closing quotation mark. I'm afraid I have no idea why it doesn't work properly in your case. Anybody?

If you mean what I suspect you mean, Nisus Writer Express doesn't currently offer what you are looking for. It does have a Number Renumber Lines macro, but this places a hard number (rather than an automatically updating number) at the beginning of each selected paragraph, which probably is not what...

if you click the red button you get the stuff underlined in red, if you click the green button, you get the stuff underlined in green. That seems pretty intuitive to me. I think the red underline in Ryan's example is just Nisus telling him that it doesn't recognize the spelling of the word Birdwing...

I remember that, when I first started using the Accept/Reject Change feature in some other application (Microsoft Word?), the buttons confused me. Accepting or rejecting an insertion was straightforward, but accepting or rejecting a deletion was not as intuitive. Like some double-negatives, it requi...

I am okay with inline buttons if done well. If Nisus goes that route, I think it would be a good idea to be able to show and hide them. Taking that concept a little farther, it might be a good idea to allow users to switch among four views: 1. Hide buttons; show strikethrough and redline (Mark-up Vi...

I was not clamoring for full-screen mode, so perhaps I should hold my tongue, but mrennie expresses my concern as well. I think his suggestions are helpful. An additional solution to the width-of-line problem might be to allow text to flow in columns in full-screen mode. Perhaps these options could ...

Since you gave us a helpful visual representation of your idea, here's a mock-up of a mark-up palette. (If you think yours was crude, this is even cruder.) http://www.crchapin.com/etc/Mark-up_palette.jpg From left to right, the buttons would do the following. * Permit user to type redline text (or c...

Re: so here I am

well that was fun, I deleted my "new file.dot" file, when I deleted my preference file to see if that would change around the paste window that comes up the paste window came up when I had a generic new file.dot, but after I put in all my info and paragraph styles, it no longer worked The...

I closed NWE, opened a new file, copied the text below and pasted it, and it pasted it without a question my normal font is Georgia and it pasted in Helvetica -- with no questions I think there might possibly be some confusion here about styles and attributes. Attributes are things like font size, ...

The image works fine. Thanks for creating it. I thought you were proposing that the buttons appear inline, immediately following the modified text. Your proposal looks cleaner than what I imagined, but it runs into a problem when there are multiple edits on a single line. How would it look in those ...

I like the simplicity of the inline buttons idea. The trick is in the implementation. Perhaps they could be shown or hidden at the user's discretion. Another approach, not necessarily better, is a mark-up navigation palette with a few simple buttons: Next Edit, Previous Edit, Accept Edit, Reject Edi...

If you check the "Do not ask again for this document as long as it remains open" box, then to get the dialog back, you would need to close that document and reopen it. (Naturally you couldn't know this if you didn't read the dialog carefully before you checked the box.)

Another way is to set the document up with a different first-page header. (Check "Different First Page" under Header and Footer in the Sections palette.) Then add returns to the end of the first-page header enlarge it. The advantage here is that you don't have to put a forced break in your...

Re: Tables

if I do a three column table and try to make a list in the first column I get all 1. or 1. 2. If I understand you correctly, I'm not able to reproduce this. I get 1. in the first row, 2. in the second row, 3. in the third row and (presumably) so on. (PowerBook G4, Mac OS X 10.4.6, NWE 2.7 beta 7) -...
