Re: Replace character style

Hi Tacitus, I'm really glad to help. I've been using NW(P) since it was first available on OS-X I didn't use Nisus Claasic, though I had it, as I was using Word 5.1a (the last good version of Word in my opinion!), but I did get Nisus installed on 24 Macs at the School of Languages where I was workin...

Re: Replace character style

To continue… :) I've been playing around with a project that has Section breaks, using two different Compile formats to RTF, and in neither of them is there any difference in the footers in the different sections. I tried it with both the default 1 inch margins all round, and also with the footer ma...

Re: Replace character style

Hi @Tacitus, I wrote a reply earlier in the thread, but it took me so long to write it that it was redundant by the time I'd posted it. I don't think I've ever encountered your footer problem with Scrivener --> NWP, but I'll have a shufti. Any information you can give me about your Scriv project and...

Re: Narrow No Break Space and footnote marker

On the other hand, I'm not sure why I'm so fussy. My favorite work environment in Nisus is draft view without palettes and with the toolbar hidden. I want all the features behind those things. When it's time to write, I just want me and the words in a simple view. And that is more or less precisely...

Re: Narrow No Break Space and footnote marker

Ditto on NWP's styles. Most what you do in Scrivener's compile, at least when compiling to word processing formats, is easier and quicker with Nisus style sets. If I were to wish for a change, it would be to have page styles included in the style set. That would make documents complete chameleons. ...

Re: Change identical style in several files

I have been using a macro to apply a style collection to an existing document for many, many years now. The code was almost entirely written for me by Martin. I recently created a simplified version of it for another NWP user. It starts by asking you to select the style collection you wish to import...

Re: Narrow No Break Space and footnote marker

Hi Martin, Thanks for coming in. My problem was when editing my style collection directly — e.g. ~/iCloud Drive/Nisus Documents/Style Library/Standard.rtf — by opening it in NWP. When I modified the Footnote style in another (normal) document and exported it to the style collection to replace the ex...

Re: Narrow No Break Space and footnote marker

24 views but no suggestions. On the other hand I have solved the problem. As I found, modifying the style in an actual, content-containing document seemed to preserve the space on saving, closing and reopening, where modifying the style collection—an RTF document with no content but with a styleshee...

Narrow No Break Space and footnote marker

Does anyone know how to insert the 'Narrow No Break Space', Unicode U+202F/UTF-8 E2 80 AF, into the 'Before Text' space in the Footnote pane of the stylesheet in such a way that it will be saved. Screenshot 2022-07-09 at 15.16.08.png I wish to use it in at least one of my style collections that I ap...

Re: Change font & Size

Thanks for all this Mark. After a couple of false starts it now works perfectly! I wish I knew more about the macro language, although if I really started using PowerFind/Pro, that would probably give me some baby steps into it. At one time I believe Take Control Books were going to do one on Nisus...

Re: Change font & Size

We've had a visitor staying with us over the weekend, which means I've only just got round to looking closely at what you sent me. Here's what I found in your style sheet: You had created a "Footnotes" style though there is the built-in "Footnote" style. I think that was causing ...

Re: Change font & Size

Hi Martin, I'm glad you've chimed in. All this has made me wonder … In creating the "Super" style (see my samples for Tacitus), one can use the menu entries: Format → Size → Decrease by… Format → Baseline → Raise Baseline by… but then, using 2pts difference, the stylesheet reads "Font...

Re: Change font & Size

Tacitus, just a suggestion … Can you let me have your compile .scrformat and your style collection .rtf, so that I can try your workflow to see if I can work out what's going on with your footnotes? Also, what the footnotes must conform to as defined by MHRA. Mind you, thinking through all this, do ...
