Re: Alt text for tables
I'm not quite sure what you mean by tagging the table... some sort of hover text that appears when you hover the mouse over it? Like an alt text for an image tag in HTML? Some possibilities: Add a comment to the entire table, and use that for the alt text. Perhaps use a callout box in a margin point...

Re: Search for (and optionally, replace styles).
This is indeed possible and in fact one of the strengths of Nisus. The easiest way I know is to find the style you want to replace... let's say Heading 1. Find it in the Style Palette. Select it. There's a gear menu in that palette, which allows you to find all in that style. Do that, then choose a ...

Long story short, try redownloading the Thesaurus app and reinstalling it. That appears to clear up the bug.

Re: Remove styles
To add to what Martin said, if you need to remove everything, the "remove attributes and styles" command in the Format menu should get rid of everything. Your text will then be default, whatever your default is. The commands you reference are meant to be a little more fine tuned that just nuking all...

Re: File icons changed
You could maybe try rebooting in safe mode? I had some funky icon issues as well, and rebooting into safe mode causes a fair amount of maintenance to happen. Cache's cleared, etc. To reboot into safe mode, hold down the shift key as the computer restarts. You can let the shift key go once the box wi...

Re: Text Box in Nisus Writer Pro
This is a good task and, thankfully, easily accomplished. Here's what you do. Don't bother with the rectangle. You don't need it. Insert your text box. It will come up on the page, with a line to an anchor point that is in your text somewhere. Drag your text box to where you need it, then drag the a...

Re: File icons changed
Your Launch Services database needs to be rebuilt. Prior to OS X, rebuilding the Desktop fixed this kind of thing. That's not around anymore, so you need to rebuild your Launch Services database. That can be done via terminal..... or it's easier to download a little utility called Oynx, located here...

Re: Line numbers and tables.
Thanks for all the research. So, to sum up: Line numbers will apply to one row of a table. If you have multiple lines of text inside a cell, it won't number them. So that is not good, actually. See, I'm building a caption for a legal pleading. It's laid out with a two column, one row table, with mul...

Line numbers and tables.
So I turned on line numbering (the automatic numbers that go down the left column) and set it to reset each page; this is a legal pleading. Imagine my surprise to see that the table I had inserted did not have line numbers! Instead, the table was considered as one line. Exactly how do I have line nu...

Re: Update for High Sierra?
I'm sure Nisus is testing it out. However, from my research of High Sierra, while it has a lot of under the hood changes, not many appear likely to affect Nisus any. Past history would indicate that about 2 months after High Sierra's release, we'll get a Nisus update that fixes any major issues that...

Re: Book length doc with lots of graphics -- recommendations
So I don't have experience with truly long documents, but I do have experience with documents loaded down with embedded full page PDF images. Nisus handles those fine. RTF is a robust document format, and a properly formatted RTF document has no issues with what you are describing. On your 16 Gig RA...

Re: Delete empty page (no text field)
A couple of possibilities: if a graphic is involved, that very frequently can cause extra page insertions as text tries to flow or the pagination algorithm tries to place it and fails, so it moves it and accompanying text to the next page. Second, and the manual talks about this: if you have a heade...

Re: How to Create a Style for Unique Bullet Lists
So here's the thing: the bullet field does not allow you to insert things directly (the special characters menu from the Insert Menu is greyed out, for instance) but you can paste a character or two into the bullet field. So to insert whatever you want (I used the "filled diamond" from the Misc sect...

Re: images disappearing
a PICT image? Can't believe I missed that. Yes, PICT is fairly well unsupported after Mac OS 10.6 or Snow Leopard. After a certain point I'm pretty sure the OS itself refuses to handle PICT at all; and only a few graphics apps retain support. Since Nisus image support is partially provided by the OS...
