Re: Slower than Molasses In January
Any updates on getting an Intel version of the converters? Or switching to libwpd? In the time since I started opening a word perfect document, I've opened the same file with Word, viewed it, closed Word, started Safari, browsed to the Nisus forum site, located this thread and written this message. ...

Re: Rosetta?
I have found importing so slow with the latest version of NWP that I have switched over to opening word docs in TextEdit, which is practically instantaneous. For 99% of my purposes this is adequate. The rest I will go ahead and open in Word.

clutter at bottom of screen
Is there any way to customize, move or remove the row of tiny multicolored icons in the lower right of the screen? I would rather have some of that functionality in the toolbar, and have the option to hide things like the language attribute which I very rarely use.
thanks

Re: Slower than Molasses In January
Is there a cocoa framework or other way to access textutil ( http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/ ... til.1.html ) that could be used instead?
It's practically instantaneous for most files I've tried it with.

Re: NW PRO won't open WORD 04 DOCs
I really hope the Intel importer gets included soon....I have taken to opening all Word docs with TextEdit -- which opens them instantaneously -- rather than waiting for Nisus which crawls, pegging one CPU at 99% with its PowerPC importer.

Re: NW PRO won't open WORD 04 DOCs
Actually at this point you can't strip the PPC code from NWP b/c the importers included with NWP are only in PPC, even in the beta for Snow Leopard.

Re: two texts side by side in two columns
@Mark I have also converted to Scrivener for serious writing projects, finishing up in NWP. For taking fieldnotes, though, Scrivener is overkill & NWP wins the day.

Re: two texts side by side in two columns
Somewhere on these forums I had mentioned Word Perfect's parallel columns as well....it's a feature I still miss -- I have substituted my major use for it -- putting codes parallel to text, for coding ethnographic fieldnotes -- by using a right-justified style with a contrasting highlight. But this ...

Any chance of recompiling the importers as universal binaries or Intel-specific?

Re: Nisus Writer 1.2 release
Well timed! I had just exported an rtf from scrivener with lots of footnotes, and NWP 1.1 was beachballing as it numbered the pages in page view, but the same document works fine in NWP 1.2 .

Re: Desired NWP1.2 Features
I guess I just don't understand why one would want all Nisus documents in one place -- my model has always been to organize folders on a per project basis. Some are Nisus docs, but many aren't, so my usual workflow is to open a project's folder in the Finder and launch files from there.

Re: Full Screen and Spaces
+1 for this. Skim stays in full-screen when one switches spaces -- and it's open-source -- perhaps there is code there that Nisus could adapt.

find and replace dialog and spaces
Another spaces question -- is there a way for the find and replace dialog to automatically open in the space occupied by the current active window, rather than the last space it opened in? It's awkward to hit command-F only to have the focus switch to a different space, with the document I intended ...
