Hiya circo The graphics capability and graphics layer per se have gone. What NWE/Pro has is LinkBack, so that with graphics programs which also use LinkBack, you can copy and paste in graphics. When you double click on the graphics, the originating program is launched or brought to the front so you ...

The feature set for NWPro is building -- this is v.1 for goodness sake! I don't know what text handling is offered by the OS X text engine which underpins NWE/Pro but I would expect that over time, more sophisticated text handling will become available in NW. I do hope there is a sensible limit howe...

Graphics lose classification when dragged with text

A graphic is inserted in a page. It starts as "Inline with text", but then is selected and that is altered to "Moves with paragraph" in the Images palette, then the graphic is dragged into the required position on the page. When the paragraph is selected, so is the graphic. When the paragraph is dra...

HELLO! HERE'S SOMETHING! Messing around with graphics and indents (see the new thread "Problems with indents ..." I came across something else. I mentioned above the possibility of using sideheads generated into a LinkBack enabled graphics program. There are problems doing this when you insert them ...

Problem with indents when a graphic is inserted in a margin

If you set up a paragraph indent, not only are the measurements confused (see elsewhere -- you specify the measurements from the edge of the page, not the text margin -- wrong way to do it) but NW itself is confused about where it takes its measurement from. I just tried dropping a graphic into the ...

I mentioned earlier that I hardly thought it was likely that NWPro could provide the facilities of a program like FrameMaker, which was developed over nearly 20 years specifically as a technical book/manual desktop publishing program and was one of a kind. It also cost somewhere between 10 and 20 ti...

This is where -- as a long-time DTPer -- I take issue with you all. I have never seen a word processor that produced really good looking, easy to read, justified type. DTP programs to do that and you pay in money, learning curve and relative unhandiness of use for ordinary text documents to get that...

Geoff- why not just apply the paragraph style, type the heading, hit tab, type the paragraph, then select the heading and apply the character style? Or go back and style it later? Of course it's a personal preference Hi Derick That's perfectly possible too, of course, as is manual adjustment to ove...

Good thinking Scott -- but slightly major activity to achieve the end. An "off" switch action, which could have a keyboard shortcut attached to it, would improve the workflow. There would have to be two off switches, one for Character Styles and another for Pragraph Styles. They're both menu items ...

Re: how to do it

You might also want to create a character style to use for the heading text itself - I didn't in the sample doc. Getting this running so that it is quick and easy to use without selecting each head and applying the Character Style to it throws up a problem with NW Styles. For type formatting, Chara...
