Re: Sick Document

Although at this point I do not understand what is going to be an optimal size for an in line graphic in size. There isn't a single optimal image size in bytes. It will depend on a lot of factors, including the quality you need (eg: DPI) for whatever final output you intend. It can even vary by the...

Re: Sick Document

I'm sorry you're having trouble with a particular document. From what you described regarding very slow saving, you probably have an embedded image that is very large in terms of its data size (in bytes). When you insert a graphic Nisus Writer preserves all of the original image data , even if you r...

Re: Macro to assign style

I think a macro command showing a UI with fuzzy/partial text matching and filtering would be a useful addition. I can foresee other situations where such a feature would be useful. Thanks for the idea, I'll file it as a potential future enhancement. Unfortunately it's difficult to obtain the results...

Re: Small issue with cross-refs PDF hyperlinks

What you said is unfortunately true. When you click an intra-document link in a PDF, the viewer app (eg: Apple's Preview) tends to place the link target at the very top of the scrollable area. That means whatever was above the target will be out of view. If you have a link to a caption underneath a ...

Re: Space around lists, quotations, etc.

Ahhh, I'm sorry for missing the joke, and making you ruin it with an explanation. Your hypothetical Missing List Item macro would be awesome 🔮 I'm pretty sure I need that every time I'm grocery shopping haha.

Re: Space around lists, quotations, etc.

I'm glad the macro is useful, thanks Adrian! I'd be happy to tweak it more for your needs, but I wasn't sure what you meant by this: I don’t suppose you could tweak the macro just that teensy-weensy little bit more so it automatically and contextually interpolates the inevitable dreaded Missing List...

Re: Space around lists, quotations, etc.

Thanks Adrian and Mark for the additional refinements and discussion! That’s good, Martin, except that it only works for Lists That's true, and it's certainly a limitation that prevents using the macro more generally without list styles. Though if people are working exclusively with list styles, the...

Re: Space around lists, quotations, etc.

Thanks heaps for that, Martin. I'm always happy to help! :) The only caveat is that the selection must commence with a Paragraph Start How about the macro allows for the selection to be anywhere in a list paragraph? It's easy enough to expand the selection (or insertion point) using the menu Format...

Re: Space around lists, quotations, etc.

For example, the following code works inconsistently: ... I think the problem lies with the Selection stack. There is indeed a problem with the selection stack/history that's preventing your macro from working correctly. It looks like the current selection (at the moment when you start the macro) i...

Re: Space around lists, quotations, etc.

Here's an example file that shows the technique of using specialized paragraph styles to control list spacing: lists example.rtf The file has a paragraph style called "List" that enforces the list style called "Number List" and eliminates the spacing between paragraphs. This style is the basis for t...

Re: different first page header height

That said, what happens, actually, when you have a "different first page" header/footer with a same page section break? What is considered the "first page" of the section in those situations? I think I recall that whatever section is in effect at the very top of the page is the one that governs wha...

Re: Space around lists, quotations, etc.

I came up with another hack: if you don't need more than 8 points of space before or after, you can fake it with a white table border. As Adrian said, that's certainly creative! But as other pointed out, it's going to be much easier if you just add some spacing manually, to override your paragraph ...

Re: Space around lists, quotations, etc.

This is certainly an area that could be improved in Nisus Writer. It would be great if before/after paragraph spacing could be controlled situationally by paragraph styles. That option in Word to suppress spacing between paragraphs in the same style is one way to improve things, but it would be even...
